Did anyone see this on the news tonight. He was tied to a tree muzzled and set on fire with a gas canister. The RSPCA say that he must have been alive when this was done. I think these people need burning themselves. Chris

This makes me cry :-( Poor dog

I hope these people rot in hell
yes I saw this, apparently the RSPCA have put a picture on their web site to help catch the perpetrators, but I shan't be looking at it.

Didn`t hear this on the news but I thing its a disgrace
What is this world coming to

How sad
Got this extract from the site- so idiotic and sadistic these people.
"A dog walker made the grim discovery on Wednesday, 15 February on the edge of Handsworth Golf Course in Birmingham. The male dog was found tied tightly to a tree by his lead on a patch of open land, off Silvercroft Avenue. The Staffordshire bull terrier dog was wearing a nylon muzzle, a distinctive black leather harness with a brass pattern and a tan leather collar with brass studs. The dog had a wound on the top of his head and beside him was a large burnt can, similar in shape to a de-icer canister. The fire scorched a large area of ground surrounding the body.
"It is my opinion that this dog was alive when he was deliberately set alight," continued Inspector Davies. "He was tied to the tree so tightly that I had to use a knife to free him. Particularly upsetting is that I believe the dog was set on fire wearing a muzzle to prevent him from barking. I also believe whoever carried out this heinous act knew the dog would be found at this spot as it's often used by dog walkers. A more secluded spot could certainly have been found but this was not the intention of the person responsible."
i made the mistake of going on the RSPCA website after reading this post earlier. Not pleasant. Not as bad as i was expecting, but thats besides the point. It amazes me how someone has the mental ability, or should that be instability, to go to such lengths. Sick.

Absolutely heartbreaking.....god bless the poor little soul. Feeling sick to the stomach now

Hayley

Chris....don't I know you from somewhere else?? LOL
Seriously it IS disgusting and the people responsible need their privates put in a vice and set fire themselves!!!
All the best, Dawn

That's just a terrible story. I think the even more worrying thing is I'm getting used to these kind of stories and nothing shocks or surprises me much any more.
I have a gut feeling the dog's owner or someone they know is responsible for this - just seems a bit too convenient and premeditated that somebody happens to have a shop bought muzzle handy to randomly do this to a dog.

Ditto Phoebe
The scumbags who did this deserve exactly the same treatment as they gave to the poor dog. It seems that some people have a total lack of respect for life and feel that it's ok to act in this way. Totally horrific.
Hear hear! That is awful. It's not only dogs that are badly treated by these sort of people. Our local paper last week ran a story on its front page about a nursery school that kept guinea pigs for the children. One night some louts stole the poor little pigs. kicked them to death then threw them in the school swimming pool for the staff to find next morning.
It made me feel sick.

I seriously hope the people who did this 'rot in hell'!

when I was living in Belgium on the Nato camp there, there was an american who killed his staffy with a hammer and then set fire to him, they then disposed of his body in one of the dustbins

He was caught as there is alot of cctv ect on the camp and he didn't realise this whilst putting the dog in the bin

It just makes you sick doesn't it, all it was for was he had to move back to America and dog had no passport

Thats just sick, actually I didn't know this was here and put a link in idle chat... Very disturbing

Crime against animals is not taken seriously by the courts or rather the law does not allow for these criminals to recieve sentences which would treat this crime as murder which is what it is , Ihope they rot.

I have just lost my beloved 12 year old staffy recently and this just sickens me. I totally agree this is MURDER and these people deserve to rot in HELL! Anyone who has owned a staffy will know they are the most loyal and loving dogs you could wish for and how anybody could do that to their own dog is beyond me. The courts really have to take this sort of thing seriously, if these sick people are capable of doing this to an animal they could also do it to a human being they nead to be dealt with accordingly.

THings like this are the worst. I have no comment as if I say what I feel Ill be banned from this site.

You're right there - animal abuse is often a stepping stone for the perpetrators to work their way up to humans.
