We've recently had one of our pups returned to us (well, not so much a pup now - more a young adult!!!) but he gets on great with all our dogs at home. But, when we let him out into the garden he goes mad at the swimming pool. It's in an area with a small picket fence seperating it from the rest of the garden but at this time of year we leave the gate open as the pool is empty (and was nearly full of water after all the snow had melted!) but it's kept covered. But, Duke, the returned boy goes absolutely mad at the whole pool! He runs straight over to the pool and barks and barks and barks. Now, we have a dog who goes mad when she can see something floating in it but for the dog to purposely go to the pool and go mad is really strange. We've had to close the gate now to prevent the dogs from going to that part of the garden but he even jumps the fence to get to the pool!!!
Any ideas or experience with this strange behaviour would be appreciated as I have never ever come across it!

I'd be very careful - our neighbours' pug drowned in their pond this week :(

My puppy occasionally barks at strange things, I find that if I approach the object, pat it and tell it what a nice boulder-stick-bin whatever it is then she will calm down. Sometimes I actually have to sit beside the object before she will calm down adn approach....just make sure your neighbours aren't watching while you pat the pool :D

Patting the pool?! Now, that's one for the books - in actual fact I shall go and do it right now - or perhaps I should wait a few hours for it to get dark first just incase neighbours do see me!! :D
