Topic Other Boards / Foo / Pups on the rampage, leaving daughter in tears.
- By kayc [gb] Date 18.02.06 12:10 UTC
I came home last night to find the gate to the front of my house open (large 5' gate and weighs a ton)....I dont use it..... THEN got to my side door to find glass all smashed and boarded up......when I unlocked the door and went into hall....found a note taped to the livingroom door.......Please dont shout at me....not my fault......It was your pups

Well, how could she possibly blame my little innocent babies for what I was confronted with.....Hurricane Peter, El Nino and Tsunami, happened landed on my house last night.....:mad::mad:

Daughter let all dogs out for last widdles and poo's etc and and put them to bed....she left the pups till last....She went out to shut the paddock gate, as it was a little muddy and she didnt want them getting into it....but she had left side door open, pups jumped up on it, and it shut behind her and snibbed itself....she opened the front gate to get in the front door, but had locked it earlier.....Mortice lock.... she forgot about pups and went round the house to decide which window to break into....THEN remembered pups had free run of livingroom kitchen and bathroom...   I have no mobile phone, no tv remote, landline phone plasma screen now lovely purple hue, a whole rack of around 30 CD's wiped out.....I cant go on...oh yes, cat hanging from ceiling in sheer terror, while pups were using the furniture as a wall of death speedway track

Then its my fault she has broken 3 nails trying to catch and tame them.....after that, she consoled herself with one of my wild stawberry boiling sweets and smashes a tooth......she wondered why a part of the sweet refused to be smashed to smitherines....took it out of her mouth and found it wasnt the sweet, it was half a tooth.....

She Devil and Spawn of Satan are now sound asleep in a world of complete innocence and looking like angels  .......However.....the big girls are now in the process of getting a petition going for sending them to a place called 'the pound'.  They heard the word bandied around quite a lot this morning  :D ;)
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 18.02.06 12:19 UTC
Oh oh .... sounds familiar - been there, done that, claimed on the insurance when the "Piddles" were small:rolleyes:

Poor Kay - and those puppies will be looking sooo sweet this morning with the "what have we done??" look in their eyes.    Daughter probably off in a huff, requiring a large dollop of retail therapy ;) to make her feel better .......

And don't forget.......they grow up all too soon (thank goodness) !

Soon it will all be part of a story that you can use to console other people daft enough to have puppies :D

I blame the big girls really.....they were soooo good as pups, they lulled me into a false sense of security :D :D
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 18.02.06 12:48 UTC
I always think that the Big Girls and Boys have a lot to do with puppies behaving badly......just whispering in the puppies' ears - "go on - why don't you try....... " and then sitting back smugly watching the reactions :D

They then come up to you, oh so silkily - "we didn't do things like that when we were little did we?   we woz good puppies!" :D :D :D

so it's not just working with kids and animals then........are you saying that we souldn't live with them aswell?......
Poor you kay, at least no-one was hurt.
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 18.02.06 13:33 UTC
Providing you've got accidental damage on your house contents insurance, you can at least claim for the worst of the damage!

Ours included 2.5 litre can of paint knocked down stairs, lid came off, paint spilled down stairs, all over stair carpet, puppies running through it, over settees & chairs, splattered over brick chimney breasts, over glass doors...... you get the picture.

Insurance co paid out for stair carpet, cleaning brickwork, repainting.   Also paid for cleaning paint off settees & chairs (not too successful, but we were about to buy new, so weren't too bothered by that - we could have pushed for new, I suppose :(

Oh dear what a disaster, nothing will console at the moment probably. I hope you all have a sense of humour second to none!
- By kayc [gb] Date 18.02.06 14:04 UTC
Thankfully the carpets are still the one's that were here when I moved in, so although covered in coal and nicely rubbed in, I am not too fussed ..... I had already decided not to lay anything new until pups were over the 'odd accident stage' ....The sofas which were covered in sodden wet coal, have removable washable coverings so they should come up okay.....Have just finished painting the living rooms walls, and I really do thank heaven that after a lazy couple of days, I finally removed all the paint tins from their window sill resting place....

and I thought Bailey was the limit, when he brought the garden hose in and flooded the living room when I was refilling the Garden pond....Oooh life has been a doddle since then. talk a bout a wake up call  :D

Oh No. lol.  my daughter is not a kid....she is 29

And when I say the big girls,,,, I didnt mean daughters lol, that what I collectively call all my other Labs ;)

I can live with the destruction....all replaceable, and insured ..... but it was my daughters rendition of last nights events , flailing arms and very descritive words which had me desperately stifling a small snigger, while she was in tears (I am a wicked mother) ;) but by the time she had got to the broken tooth.....well!!! it was like a fireside theatre production.....

Actually wondering what she fed them last night, since Tia is so hyper this morning too,
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 18.02.06 13:56 UTC
Just don't let your daughter get together with my son in recounting puppies' misadventures!!  Obviously the pair of them have the storyteller's knack - to hear my Nik giving account of what happens can send you running for the Tena Ladys  !!!!

In future, when someone comes on here saying they want 2 pups from the same litter, we should just direct them to this thread :D :D :D
- By kayc [gb] Date 18.02.06 14:23 UTC
:D :D  absolutely...... I will visit it from time to time as a reminder to practice what I preach :rolleyes: ;)

I\'m wondering why your pups went on such a rampage  Does this not seem a bit excessive to you all? Do they get plenty of exercise and outside stimulation(other than the yard).I know everyone is joking about what happened, but i would be more concerned about WHY they would feel the need to do so much damage?? How did they manage to smash 30 cd\'s?
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 18.02.06 14:28 UTC
"Why would then feel the need to do so much damage?"

Because it would seem like fun!!!  They wouldn't see it as damage - more like having fun in a place they are not normally allowed on their own!

I wouldn't see anything to feel particularly concerned about...... these things can - and do - happen if you keep a couple of rumbustious puppies    Fortunately - not all the time!

CD case is a very heavy solid wood swivel and they managed to topple it, most of the CD casings smashed in the fall, the CD themselves were chomped, clawed and skidded around the room

And yes they do get plenty of mental stimulation,  and my yard is actually a paddock....and their walks, which I did before I went out are on lead 20mins.....but....I am wondering what my daughter fed them on last night, as I said in another post...Tia, my 2 year old is showing signs of being hyper this morning too, although settled down a bit now

But lets face it....2 x 4 month old pups left to their own devices can cause untold damage in 20 mins....and did

They have always had a fascination with coal, and since it was there and no-one else was.....:)

They would use the furniture as a race track, because, as young Labrador pups, I do not allow jumping on and off the sofas, to prevent any possible envirnmental hip problems....a typical case of while the cats away, so to speak.... so no....it does not seem excessive under the circumstances....

I really think you should be on the stage. I've laughed so much at not only the story but at the way you described it that it had me running to the phone to read it to a friend. Brilliant. Hope you've managed to clear things up now.  Labs, just what I would expect.

Be Brave Lucy!!!! :D :D :D

Just think of it as training for when you (eventually) have puppies :D

People pay a small fortune for training these days ;)
