just wondered how much excersice you all do ,besides walking the dog do you do anything else ? ive decided i need to get fit ,i havent done any excersice for years,so i have started to do 30 mins on my elleptical (sp) machine 5 days a week i have been burning about 120 cals going about 4miles do you think this is enough to see some sort of change ?

I find that yoga and 'Callanetics' are very good at toning me up and making me stand straighter and taller - which makes me look slimmer! :)

Up to November i was running anywhere between 15-20 miles/week :)
Then hurt my knee so now hobbling 15-20 steps per hour ;)

It sounds as though you're really making an effort. Once you get into a routine you should start enjoying it & will be able to build up to do a bit more if you wish to. I find it doesn't take much to see a result - sensible exercise & sensible eating, not over doing either. Good luck

Don't bother with how many calories are used up. Far more important to concentrate on your overall fitness and cardio work.....the toning up will make you feel and look better (not that you don't !) but you won't necessarily lose weight.
You might get bored doing the same excercise everyday, try to do something different every other day instead.
I go running and to a gym - my weight doesn't alter but I'm so much fitter than I used to be and that's the important thing.

Well done though, and good luck.

I hate my elliptical trainer,I have absolutely no rhythm,so am now on a stepper, and am trying to use them both alternately, now at Christmas, cough, cough,I weighed in at 16 and half stone, just weighed myself and am now one pound over the fifteen stone mark, but I love my stepper,I go on it,put head phones on and pretend I am going for the long walks, I loved, around Shotover Woods in Oxford as a kid,and do not even think about how long or how many steps have done, and, now don't laugh,I find myself chuckling at the things me and my old school pal and me used to get up to,its actually got me remembering stuff long forgotten, other half thinks i'm insane, and hes probably right, but its great fun,

don't speak to me about gyms !!! Went this morning for my low impact gentle toning type class only to find we had a temp instructor..... who thought she was taking a high impact aerobics class. After about 25 minutes of running up and down the gym pretending to be superwoman and Madonna rolled into one, she suddenly twigged that there were an unusual number of red puffing faces around her and middle aged mums looking ready for a heart attack!!  So we spent the next 20 minutes lying on the floor doing strecthes trying to get our heartbeat back down below abot 3000 bpm. What amorning, I had to have a choc eclair when I get home to help me recover!!

I am currently at weight watchers and training for an event i am taking part in.  I do 3 days a week of power walking for up to 45 minutes.

As of this week I am adding in a 10 mile hike at weekends.  This is really helping me tone up and I am feeling fitter and fitter.

Exercise I just go to work then come summer usually walk around the park, much too cold for me and the boston's right now, we all hate the cold we are cold blooded lol :D Mind you we did go skating and thats a real good work out, I know you keep in better shape walking in the snow because its alot more challenging to walk...

I keep bugging my hubby for a tread mill and he keeps saying we have stairs, I never asked for a stair master :(

I go to the gym 3 times a week, I go jogging almost every day from May till September and I go skiing in the winter and I swim in the summer. But I think my parents are the crazy people  ...... my mom does yoga every moring for about an hour and she rides a bicycle every weekend for about 70km. My dad is 67 and since his 16th birthday he's been jogging every day. At least 10km if not more!
My brother also goes to the gym and is a skiing fanatic....

Im a horserider. Ive joined an amateur dramatics group and I also do break dancing and street dancing. Last week we had our panto. Over 5 days we did 6 productions. I had 2 packets of munchies, a dairy bar, a milky way, milky way stars and haribo sour sweets on top of my normal food and still lost 2 pound!! So if your wanting ways to lose weight join a pantomime production!!

I have lost weight and have no idea how, when I went to the doctors I weighed 124lbs, then 122 lbs and just weighed myself at my friends lastnight 119 lbs  I eat and stuff all that is good, eat more when Iam working 3 meals a day and sometimes snack at night --  no work don't eat breakfast but have a Tim Hortens coffee... Just wondering how to tighten up the stomache, back and the butt do you still need to get the cardiovascular (sp) going or can you just work on crunches ect? Hope that made sense cause it sounded better in my head :D Would just like to tone up thats all, I do have stomache muscle would just like to see the abs so to speak a lil :) Any idea's very welccome
