you lucky devil Val when was the last time you were on skates??

About 4 years ago now.  I passed the audition for Holiday on Ice when I left school but my Mother (quite rightly!) wouldn't let me go and live in a caravan with 3 other 16 year olds in Wembley!!  So I went and trained as a Veterinary Nurse instead!  What a difference!

I kept my daughter off the ice until she was 15.  She loved it too but now is too frightened to hurt herself and not be able to work - she's an Osteopath.

The last (and first) time I was on skates has got to be at least 3 years ago, possibly more than 4...

I went with a really close friend and we had so much fun but I ended up clinging to her a few times and falling a few times. We had our 2 hours and left, but there were some other girls who took it upon themselves to bully us. Shunting into us when we were no where near them and saying "Watch it..." as well as going home when we did, they were wuite a bit older so it was intimidating.
But before they got there it was a lot of fun!

Glad you had an ace time :D

Aw...sorry you had a bad experience unbelievable did you go in the evening when the teenagers were around?

If anyone had done that to me they would have found themselves face down on the ice...LOL

I'm devil woman...LOL  of course not advocating violence of course.....

Ah, such fond memories of Richmond ice rink. Was a brill day out for all the family when i was a kid. Then they shut it, still don't know why.
My daughter has been watching the skating, mainly to see the pretty outfits that the ladies are wearing, that's how she marks them, the winner usually wearing pink or lilac i notice. But anyway, she really want's to have a go, so have said that i will take her to our nearest silver blades, i think it's called. Am a bit wary though as i have been told it's quite small and usually full of bulshy teenagers.

Roni,
Is this the one Near Shotton?? I have the fondest memories of that Icerink :D (My best ever kiss was on the edge of that rink  I was playing ice hockey carried off injured....it was like 'An officer and a gentleman'..V.romantic...except I was dressed like the Michelin man and had blood pouring from my nose!) Awwwww I went out with that guy for 7 years after that 1st kiss *deep sigh* Fond memories of that part of the world :D

(was there a really dodgy nightclub beside it too?? many a good night there when I was a student, lol)

When I was about 7 or 8, there was a book published called "white boots" by Noel Streatfield - about girls ice-skating.   I adored it, and pestered and pestered my parents for ice skating lessons.   As they could both skate (having grown up in Perth, where the inches would freeze over, I believe) they taught me, and I would go to Oxford or Richmond whenever I could - I loved it!   However, breaking my ankle playing hockey (nasty game  ) when I was about 13 stopped me going on a regular basis.   I last went a couple of years ago, when there was a winter fair and the Millenium Dome & there was an ice rink there - kept talking about going to Broadgate Circus at Liverpool St, in lunch hours whilst I was working full time, but never actually did!
