I've always wanted to go there.  Wonder how many people actually got to the show today?  Did you see the 2 feet of snow which hit the area yesterday?

Hopefully next year, I will definitely go.

I've never really looked at the entry details for Westminster before but had assumed it was on a par with crufts. Blimey was I wrong...22 afghans...16 border collies...cavaliers high entry of 42! I couldn't understand it till I saw that they have an entry limit of 2500 dogs total - plus some invited dogs (the top 5 in each breed). Strange system when as we know crufts can sometimes throw up some surprise winners - 1st time CC winners etc.

I went in 2003 - its good but no way near the size of Crufts.... in fact its miniscule in comparison.

I did enjoy it though...... :-)

Hi  all Dogs get a invited to Westminster KC.
I think its the Top 10 winning Dogs from each Breed,
Its much the same as the Big Eukanuba Invitation in
Tampa Florida,  but no money on offer, like Eukanuba
Invitation where there is about  50 Thousand Dollars on offer
for the winner.
We got a Invite to Tampa with our dog ,as we got the Breed
at Crufts last year,

I have been 4 times and LOVE it! Couldn't go this year as couldn't get time off work unfortunatly. I don't think you can compare it to Crufts though as it is much, much smaller and only over 2 days. But much, much "showier" (if you can use that word!) much more glitzy! A very busy show, loads of dogs and handlers crammed into a tiny space. The Specialties that are held the weekend before are always worth going to as well and there is also a big Setter show too where the entry is about 100 compared to 16 English Setters! I think everyone should try it once, you'll either love it or hate it with a passion!

Its a great show,  about 2000 dogs in all, but as a visitor
you get to see  some of the best of the best they have over there, and
see some great Handling,and grooming,
well worth a trip,
Another good trip is Montgomery Terrier show, there is a 4 day cluster of
shows,All breeds. then the last one is All Terrier Montgomery.

having seen the examples of my breed there, they would be hard pushed to get made u in UK. let alone be the best of the best!!!!   Having said that, their BOB is coming to Crufts this year & will be in one of the same classses as me:rolleyes:

Hi what breed do you have Sam,?
- By Cairnmania [gb] Date 16.02.06 18:15 UTC
Westminster is totally indoors and the ring areas are very small - hence the limitation on size.   In addition, any dog entered has to be a breed champion (easier in the U.S. to get) and invited.

I've been a couple of times for the fun of it.  Never been to Crufts, but would love to one year.

Cavaliers were mixed from what I could see on the video I found from another forum - some were excellent quality, some were pretty grotty. :-)
