It is my first time with pupies they are almost 2 weeks old now was wondering if any one had any good tips on weaning the pups?

My last litter, I soaked the puppy food, then liquidised it and added some puppy milk powder, it looked like a creamy porridge. They loved it. Had no problem with them eating it and also some Branded puppy porridge when dry goes like concrete on the fur. This porridge when dry just drops off the fur. Its great! By the way, they end up wearing most of it, very messy business weaning!

Thank you I will try that ..... I understand that the pups will be weaned at about 3 weeks would you agree with this?

I start weaning mine at 3 weeks with scraped raw beef (not minced, that's too lumpy to start with and they can choke), about a teaspoon a day for a couple of days, then a teaspoon twice a day etc, gradually increasing the quantites and the number of feeds.

Me too Jeangenie :)

You recommended this to me when Callah had her litter in September.
Mine loved it and wher eating brilliantly within a week.
A friend of mine who has had litters in the past told me to use puppy porridge, but I didn't want to as I feed Callah a BARF diet so wanted either, wet puppy food or meat.
She was amazed at how well they took to eating and said she wishes she had of thought of that :)
So I would deffinately recommend weaning onto scraped beef.

From about 3 1/2 weeks I used to get best steak mince and roll it into tiny sausages on the end of my finger and let them suck it :D  I love weaning - it's one of the best times with a litter.
