Topic Dog Boards / General / Mardiest ?

We have a contender :D :D

Moose :rolleyes::rolleyes:

She is the most full on dog I have ever had and always wants to be centre of attention :)

If however you dare to tell her 'no you wait' or 'no not your turn' (for cuddles) then she has such a big mardy :D :D

If she had long blonde hair (she is a chocolate Lab but is a definate blonde :D  ) She would flick her head back, push it away with her paw and then lie down, turning away from us letting out a big humph :D :D

Dudley is nothing like that and Mars and Min were never like that :confused:

I do love her though ;)

I need a definition of 'mardy' or ' mardie'. It's not a term we Geordies use, so what's that then?

Didn't realise it had slipped dahn sarf as far as Oxfordshire!  Thought it was a Yorkshire/Notts term for someone who is miserable, truculent, sulky and moaning!

There is nothing more aggravating than a mardy kid - unless it is a mardy teenager :D
- By Daisy [gb] Date 14.02.06 19:51 UTC
or a mardy Aussie :( :( ;)

Ahhh so, I know all about stroppy teenagers. If I said they were mardy though, i'd get an extra helping of......what planet have you just arrived from?:confused::confused:

Kids.... who'd have them?

Moose is a mardy teenager, well young lady

OH is a Yorkshire 1/4 bred Sussex lad so we know Southern and Northern Lingo :D

I am a Brummie although {{{Posh}}} cause from Sutton Coldfield.  :D :D
- By kayc [gb] Date 14.02.06 22:07 UTC
Ahh Lucy, you obviously have not met my Tia.... stroppy, she epitomises the word....Mardy she invented the word

She is the 'proper little madam' and really does 'stamp her feet' when she does not get her own way'....filthy looks, she can throw them better that I can. ;)

And yes, when she leaves the room in a huff, she 'flounces'

Spoiled little brat :D :D
- By roz [gb] Date 14.02.06 23:05 UTC
Ahem, Lucy! Dontcha mean the "Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield"? ;)

(Speaks as someone whose OH lived and went to school there!)

I have a yellow Lab who is (blonde) and also a mardy cow everything as to be about her my Chocolate girl is a dream.

I'm from Nott's by the why.

I thought everyone from Sutton in coldfield were common LOL.

O MY GOD WHAT HAVE I JUST SAID? lol. (Only joking)

My partner (who is from Redcar) as only took 13 years to understand what nesh means LOL.

- By LJS Date 15.02.06 11:32 UTC
I didn't want to say about our Royal connections ;)

Where abouts was he dragged up then and what school ?

I was in Four Oaks which I suppose is the suburbs :D
- By LucyD [gb] Date 15.02.06 11:42 UTC
I guess I is posh or a southerner cos I 'aven't 'eard of Mardy, but my girl is certainly a stroppy little sod! :-) If she can't get my attention she gives this cute little squeaky growl/bark, and tries jumping up, sitting, and lying down to see what will work. I've had to stop taking her to my other dogs' classes at pet training because even in a crate at the other end of the room so she can't see me, she yowls all the way through! Attention-seeking little monster! :-D
- By roz [gb] Date 15.02.06 12:00 UTC
He was dragged up on the Tamworth Road and went to that well known sink of iniquity Bishop Vezey's Grammar! ;)
- By Kazzie [gb] Date 15.02.06 13:32 UTC
I'm a Yorkshire lass and darn proud :P

You should all listen to "Mardy Bum" by Arctic Monkeys. Oh <3 to the Sheffield lads. The lead singer's dad is my music teacher! Woo!
- By Bluebell [gb] Date 15.02.06 15:03 UTC
Not sure which is worse, yours or ours. Hook simply will not be left out of a cuddle and my knee caps have the bruises to prove it :rolleyes:Guess it is far more effective than sulking, but that head is just like a battering ram.
