We have been contemplating getting another bloodhound puppy for a bit of time now (even though our youngest pup is just four months). Anyway, we weren't planning on getting a new arrival but it just happened and to cut a long story short we got in touch with a breeder who was recommended to us by the breeder of our girl who died in November. So, got in touch with the breeder and he had been let down by two potential owners therefore having three puppies needing homes. One of which was a girl and that's what we were intending to get (because we have two boys already and it goes down to personal choice).
So, we looked at the bloodlines and I have to say I was amazed at how closely related she is to Goldy (deceased) so therefore being related to Rover, Goldy's son who we kept. Anyway, it was a hit or miss decision as the breeders we know of and trust weren't intending to breed for a month or so and we wanted to get another pup when Windsor was six months.
After looking at the pictures the breeder sent us and having a good gossip we decided to go to Essex on Thursday to purchase the little girl. We had our doubts but it's worked out amazingly. Windsor thinks she's amazing and wherever one is the other is close behind. Rover, however, is doing his grumpy thing which he did with Windsor too.
The new addition is called Roxy and she's a distinct black and tan.
As for the first night...well, all three dogs slept in their bed together...

Excellent, hope all goes well in the future. :-)

My husband has ALWAYS been a GSD lover but came across Bloodhounds one day whilst out walking our dogs.Hes now smitten and thinks they are lovely looking dogs.I better not let him read this post then. :) I dont know how many times i have said no more pets and then come home with something or another :D
Well the replies were nicer than I thought they were going to be. I have seen many members on here be VERY against having two puppies in the same household etc.
Nevertheless, she's settled in well and visiting the vets tomorrow. I'm in the process of putting a few pictures up of her on my photobucket at the moment!

Hope it all continues well! :) How old is the new puppy? What plans have you made for when she comes into season (I know it seems
far too early to be thinking of that, but time passes very quickly!)?
She's just turned eight weeks. We're keeping her entire as we may breed from her as we did with our first girl to produce Rover. He's the oldest male and has been neutered whereas Windsor we're undecided on whether or not we're going to have him neutered at around a year old.
If we decide against the idea, both dogs will be separated as we had to do with Rover and Goldy. Pain in the neck but you've got to work around these things.
