Every year since Jet (55 lb black Lab) turned 6 someone has asked her age and I've replied 6,7,8,9,10,11.   And they have then asked if I meant months?  She is small, fit, pretty energetic and has very little grey on her muzzle.  But since she turned 12 in March of 2005 it hasn't happened and I was feeling sad about it.  Today we were talking to two snowmobilers and when one asked and I told him 12 he was amazed and said, "no, I thought she was a puppy."  He didn't exactly ask if I meant months or years but close enough I think.  Jet will be 13 in March and I know our time with her is precious and limited so this observation by someone else that she appears to be doing well is heartening.  Yay Jetski.

My old girl is going to be 9 in march and she is more like a 14 year old :(
But my plumber asked where I got her from.......told him and said I had had her since she was a pup. He said she was very well behaved at her age
Then told her that she was actually nearly 9 years old and way past puppy hood LOL
He was deffinatly shocked as she does look so much like a pup!!!!
just acts more like a 14 YO :( :(

When I took Kali(now gone over the rainbow bridge :( ) to the vet last year the young trainee thought that she was about 2 years old. The vet (who had seen her for years) thought that she was about 5. When I told them she was nearly 12 they had to go and check her details on the computer ;) They still didn't believe me. They were so sure that I had taken a different dog in for a check-up :)

My old girl Lydia when she's all posh and white!! Not very often I hasten to add.  She will be 13 in October and people always think that she's a pup when I take her out, she is very cute though :d

Me too Morgan.  I'm pleased for Jet but maybe I should be worrying more about myself.  In Canada many businesses give discounts to senior citizens who must sometimes prove they are over age 65.  I got my first senior's discount the very night of my 46th birthday, without even being asked!  It was just for hamburgers at a place we frequent but, stupid me, I told the girl the price was wrong, it should have been higher.  She said, "oh, I gave you the discount."  Incredibly stupid me says, "oh, there's a special on tonight?"  Then the poor girl got all red and embarassed and wondered if she "shouldn't have given the senior's discount?"  I recovered enough to realize it had saved us a whole dollar.  Now whenever we go to that same place for hamburgers the OH always makes me pay - I'm prematurely grey and he isn't.  LOL.
