hi all does any insurance company covers  whelping r c sectons  cheers dawn
- By SharonM Date 08.02.06 14:49 UTC
I think  Petplan do one, but it has to be up and running for 6 months before you can claim on it.
- By jas Date 08.02.06 15:36 UTC
May be wrong but I don't think Petplan have a whelping cover policy. I don't know of any insurer now that does. There used to be one (can't remember the name) but it was very expensive and you had to have three (I think) registered litters before you could get it.
- By nuttyhousewife [gb] Date 08.02.06 15:51 UTC
thanks for the replys i thought there would be something  with all the different companys out there regards dawn
- By Fillis Date 08.02.06 16:07 UTC
Insurance companies dont like to insure for things that they know they will have plenty of claims for  :(
- By Lyssa [gb] Date 08.02.06 16:50 UTC
Have a look at the KC Insurance cover. :-) It will be on their website.
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 08.02.06 16:55 UTC
Petplan have a show breeders insurance, or at least they did have until I cancelled my insurance a few months ago. I had 3 dogs insured for about £55 a month, so it's not cheap. Phone them up and ask them. I now put money into a bank account just for vet bills.

How about Dog Breeders Insurance, http://www.dog-breeds.co.uk/ go here to check it out, regards, Dawn
- By Val [gb] Date 08.02.06 20:11 UTC
It's E & L!!!!!!!  Do a search on this site and see just what that means!!!
*Shaking her head in despair.........*
- By newfiedreams Date 08.02.06 20:21 UTC
I apologise for NOT being an oracle and font of all knowledge and I was just trying to help...maybe if you didn't SHOUT at folks and just explained the problem it would be better?? Newfie goes to bury her head again and wonders why she ever puts it up over the parapet?? what on earth do I know?? Only been in dogs for 35years and way too inexperienced to profer an opinion!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 08.02.06 20:30 UTC Edited 08.02.06 20:34 UTC
E&L have a very bad reputation for being happy to take your premiums but extremely unwilling to pay it out. (Trying to get blood out of a stone comes close.)
- By liberty Date 08.02.06 20:35 UTC
There, there Newfie, not to worry ......... here have a glass of my special 'Ribena' :D :D
- By newfiedreams Date 08.02.06 21:11 UTC
Liberty, gimmme 10 glasses of your precious red brew...purleeezeee!
- By Val [gb] Date 08.02.06 20:36 UTC
I don't think that I've ever shouted on this board before, but there's a time and a place!
If I can stop one family from paying premiums for 9 years, agreeing to extensive treatment for their dog, thinking that they were covered by insurance, and being paid £200+ for a nearly £1000 veterinary bill, just like many others before her, then shout I will.
I have suggested that people do a search so that they can make their own decision.

Just out of curiosity, when did DBI become part of E&L? My old goldie was insured with them for yonks, and we only claimed once for some dental work, which of course was not then covered after 12 months. Now we just put money aside for her instead.

Edited to add I don't recall being told that DBI had been taken over:confused:
- By Val [gb] Date 08.02.06 20:46 UTC
The link posted wasn't Dog Breeders Insurance, it was Dog Breeders Association - very different!
- By liberty Date 08.02.06 20:47 UTC
Apologies... I just saw the Dog Breeders Insurance part.
- By Val [gb] Date 08.02.06 20:50 UTC
You don't have to apologise to me Libs!! ;)  I just hope that the OP didn't rush off and sign up! :(

I'm not usually around at this time on a Wednesday evening - I'm just glad that I was around to shout quickly tonight!  Fate's funny eh?!
- By liberty Date 08.02.06 20:55 UTC
Well to be honest Val DBI were rubbish too:rolleyes: Bree came with that and we just continued it, Loony Libby is with More Than, not that that will help the OP tho.

:D

FYI I have one bitch insured with E&L, which I thought WAS DBI?? She cut her hind leg open last year and because she kept getting at it and opening it up(despite the lampshades!!) she had to have re-clipped, then finally sutured and the bill was £450, which considering she did most of the damage herself, by taking the blasted things out, was a miracle they paidf at all, but E&L still paid up, even though it took them 4 months! I apologise to anyone I've offended by posting the link...I certainly won't be posting anything again! If I posted I'm gonna breed this bitch and that bitch and get a zillion pounds for ...ahem...'designer' breeds...I can take being shouted at...but for doing something fairly innocently, well, enough already! Manners costs nothing....away Newfie and boil ya heed!!!
- By Missie Date 08.02.06 21:17 UTC
There really was no need to shout, the post would have been read either way as its not as if speakers are on to hear raised voices is it?

Newfie whispers that Val admitted shouting!??? :D
- By Val [gb] Date 08.02.06 21:30 UTC
If you wanted to call it shouting, I wasn't going to argue with you!
I just wanted to make sure that people who didn't know the reputation of this company did do a search before thinking it was a good deal!
- By newfiedreams Date 08.02.06 21:40 UTC
I'm sure they're in no doubt now!!!

Now I really must away and boil me heed

DBI Direct policies are administered and underwritten by Allianz Cornhill Insurance plc

DBI are nothing to do with E&L

Scottish Pet Insurance cover whelping costs or they used to do. They are a very good insurance company and my vet was very happy to deal with them, they got a wee bit expensive as they cancelled there lower grade policy but worth paying in case of whelping costs. Don't know how to do links but this is there web address you can check the policy cover on their site.
