First of all thanks to Jas Teri Lyssa Brainless Goldmali Anwen Blue JeanGenie LucyD JustLou Isabel Janet68 LokisMum Spiritualist GSPup & SpanishWaterDog for all the advice in the MORE TROUBLE thread and helping me through my stressful 24 hours ! :D

(Hope I didn't forget anyone)

I have been to the vets with my boy this afternoon and immediately the vet claimed 'no - that's not broken'

He felt around, moved his shoulder in and out, bent his leg, squeezed his toes etc and there is definitelely no break.

His tendons on the outer straight of his leg are badly bruised and underneath his paw around the pads are severely bruised.

He gave him a shot to relieve the pain and gave me 10ml of 1.5mg Metacam for further pain relief.

After his shot he toddled half a mile down the road looking for a taxi with me :)

I am so happy ... well .... thanks.

Glad to hear it wasn't anything more serious. :)

Good that it wasn't too nasty :)

I am so glad all is well.  I do suggest you look into and get some insurance for your babies, take this as an early warning cause as we all know vets bills do not come cheap.

Take care
Janet

I love a happy ending.

Let's hope that is the very last of any mishappenings, and you have some good Karma coming your way now. :-P

Great news..

Have a look at one of the insurance schemes though as it may help put your mind at rest for any future eventualities. In fact there is the old saying you don't have it when you need it so if this is true and you take out insurance your dogs will be fine :-)

I'd advise you to cage the dog for a few weeks. One of my SWD's had a similar incident with a paving stone which fell on her leg.  We kept her caged for 6 weeks, no mean feat for a dog that liked to work and is rather hyper but I'm so glad that we did as she's never had a day's trouble with it since!  We were very lucky.

Glad he's okay - as SWD says, I'd be inclined to crate him and keep that leg rested for a week or so.
