I just wanted to let everyone who was so helpful in posting suggestions about how to cope with my new puppies bad diaorreah that she is on the mend now and putting on weight fast - we can almost see her grow! We still don't know what it was (waiting for result of poo analysis) but clearly she is getting better. Have some way to go on the house-training front yet, but at least we have something slightly more solid to pick up each time we have an accident now! Thanks for all your support and advice.

Actually - have just had the test results back and she has an e-coli infection - probably from bird droppings apparently. Poor little thing. We now have her on a prescription diet plus stong anti-biotics and some pro biotics to put on her food. Hopefully that will sort it!
Glad to hear that your little girl is now on the mend!!
Poor pup, make sure you all wash your hands well after handling her and before eating - e coli can be transmitted to people.

Good to hear she is getting better. Its worrying when they are pups.

Guess what - now I have it too! We're not a happy household! Poor little Lucy has been so lethargic today BUT she has just passed her first solid poo in over 10 days which is cause for celebration. I, on the other hand, have not been so lucky. If she has been feeling like I feel now I feel really sorry for her!
Oh no, I guess my warning didn't come in enough time :)

Not quite! But at least you can be sure your advice was correct!
