Has anyone got any experience on having this done for their dogs allergy?
The reason I ask is because my dog has to go for a skin scrape next week to see what he has an allergy to. If it is something that I can't avoid ie enviroment the vet has suggested these injections. I was just wondering if it would just be a short term course or would it have to be done for the rest of his life? I didn't enquire to much with the vet as I need to wait until we have the results.

I have a friend who as an allergy to grass pollen and who has had this made up for her dog, it is about 60% effective and has reduced the reaction; in general they do need to be given forever........

You could look at homeopathic solutions which again are not necessarily 100% but can mitigate symptoms.

i have used them on my dog. it didn't seem to work that much and i thought that having to inject her every month got too much as there waasn't a huge result. they are also very expensive so i hope youi have insurence.
i know it has worked for some dogs but not mine. i would say give it a go and if there isn't any improvement then stop.

Hi Anna, Yes I've heard of a few people say that it hasn't worked for there dog either. I'm not really keen on the idea of giving injections really. The vet also suggested a low dosage of steroids which again I'm not keen on giving to any dog nevermind the fact that he is only 8 months old.  I am insured so at least I don't have to pay for the tests to be done. I'm just hoping that it is something that I can avoid ie ingredient in his food. I think I might look into the homeopathy route rather than the injections if needs be.

Used them on my bernese. He had them for about a year and yes... he is completely cured :D
