I wrote to the Irish Kennel Club asking for a list of shows and a form to register my boy with them, today they send me a little book of all the shows for 2006 but no form  is there anywhere online I can download one from ?
- By Moonmaiden Date 06.02.06 12:24 UTC

Thank you Moonmaiden, I have sent them a message. Have you ever been to any of the munster circuit shows ? are they benched, and do you have removal passes ? I only ask because I will be taking my other boy along who I dont show and I was wondering if I would have to register him with the IKC too in order to enter him NFC.

Hi i did the munster circuit this year for the first time. The shows are not benched and are outside, and we didnt have removal passes for the dogs. I really would suggest that you buy a small tent tall enough to stand up in and big enough for the dogs to go in with their cages. Last year it rained at two of the shows and as i said its all outside!! We also had a little camping stove for making tea coffee ect.. but you could buy drinks at most of the shows. Oooo dear i seem to have started talking more about the shows rather than the original question! lol If you need to know anymore about what you need (tents ect) just ask or pm as the show are really different compared to england.

Oh yes Sarah, any info greatly appreciated.  Did you have like a gazebo ?  I was planning on camping over there, are the shows within reasonable driving distance of eachother ?
- By wheaten_mad [gb] Date 06.02.06 19:26 UTC
No we didn't have a gazebo and they were selling some at the shows but some friends of our bought one over with them but the rain came through the material, it was actually really weird to see cause as it passed thought the material it came down in such a fine mist that it turn everybody hair silver!! :D I will pm you some photos of our tent (lol by the way im not some sad person who takes pictures of tents :D they were taken at our wheaten champ show when we used it for shade as it was so incredible hot!! But you may get the idea of what type we have)

As for driving distance, I don't really know as I was asleep most of the time lol! :D We were based roughly in the middle of the shows in a placed called mallow, I think the most time it took to get to the different shows was two hours. I have to say though that this year we are not stopping in mallow as it was far too quite for us! lol We are doing the Dublin all terrier show before starting the circuit with the clonmel show the next day and we are hoping to stop in clonmel for a night before we travel down to the cottage and stop there for the rest of the week. Last year we did the Dublin show then travelled to the cottage then travelled back up to the clonmel show the next day before going all the way back down to the cottage!

I don't really know about camping as personally it's not something we wouldn't do as our dogs know how to escape from the tent by wiggling underneath it! lol! So it means after we have been at a show all day we can't let them off to just doss. But im not very good at camping anyway!

I went a few years ago with my VW and hoping to go again this year.  There were loads of people around the rings with little toilet tents for camping so we've bought one for this year :d

Don't think it's anything like our champ. shows as it isn't, they are just like little open shows but outside in the pouring rain.  I think that you could definitely call it an "experience" :d :d

Lol deffiantly!! :D But they are soooo much fun!!!! Full of lovely people. But seriously dont forget your wellies!!! :D At one of the shows this year it was thundering and lightening when we were in the ring!!! lol and it was sooo muddy they had to put straw down so people could walk without getting stuck, it was great!!!!! :D :D

They are becoming just to popular and popping up everywhere :d  Would love to know whose it is.  I know Pat has a new puppy but I don't think that she'd do ringcraft it could be one of her dogs litter mates though?

Well all i know is that the puppy is the lady first SWD and that its from two spanish dogs. Its quite cute but dougal is convinced its a wheaten! :D If he see anything that looks like a wheaten he has to go over and say hello lol so he been desperate to meet it! I live in staffordshire and the ringcraft is at shenstone in nr lichfield. I will ask her tonight what the affix is but im making no promises that im gonna remember it!!! :D

I was told they are like big exemption shows.
- By ClaireyS Date 06.02.06 21:55 UTC
sounds like fun !  Im hoping that a friend will come over with me because I wouldnt mind doing the bars in Dublin, otherwise it will be just me and the boys camping for a week on our own - which will be fun anyway.  I do have a couple of friends over there so hopefully they will be around.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 06.02.06 22:49 UTC
The shows are a long way from Dublin!!  You need the day inbetween just to travel between shows.  It's quite a hike.  I did a thousand miles inthe week that I was there a few years ago, just travelling to and from the shows and most of the time I parked up at the showground.

Clonmel Show, which is the 1st of the circuit is about 2 hours from Dublin
- By Jimbob Date 07.02.06 06:43 UTC
Hi,

I live between all 4 show locations, Clonmel is 1st, then Killarney, then Limerick and finally Tralee. The Limerick show will be held in the grounds of the woodlands house hotel, Adare, Co Limerick. If you stayed in Adare, Abbeyfeale, Newcastle West areas you would be within 1 1/2 hours of each show venue. There aren't realy any campsites in this area though.Bring wellies the weather was rotten last year. If you need to know anything else let me know.

I might be best booking a b&b or something then in one of these areas - I cant be doing with camping in the rain !!!

They have the circuit shows in the wrong order, people have been complaining about it for years.
It should be:--Clonmel 1st
                      Limerick 2nd
                      Tralee 3rd
                      Killarney 4th.

Limerick is an hour from Clonmel, Tralee is 2 hours from Limerick and Killarney is 45 min from Tralee.
Don't ask me why they can't be done in this order, it would make life so much easier for everyone, especially
people who travel from the UK or northern Ireland.
