We`re hoping to introduce a new puppy into the family in 10 weeks time Our current boy was toilet trained rather quickly in a about 9 days actually, and we where wondering do you think its easier to train the second pup, do they follow the older ones lead or is it just like ususal?
That they're all different but providing we put in the hard graft 24/7 (as you obviously already did with your first lad) then house training is relatively simple, if tiring ;)
I found toilet training our 7 month old shepherd was exhausting (getting up in the night with all that broken sleep!) but it was well worth it. She trained incredibly quickly (we brought her home at 7 weeks and she only poo-d in the house once in the first week we had her and in her whole time with us only had I think around 6 wee wees in the house). Maybe with a second dog a new pup can get some guidance by following the other dog, but a puppy needs to go out for the toilet so often I think your success will be in doing the same as you did with your dog the first time rather than the fact you already have a toilet trained dog in the house.
I was rubbish with both my first two, who we got at the same time, and my young bitch. They couldn't be trusted completely until well over a year old. I just couldn't be there 24/7 as I work, so until the concept of using the dog door to take themselves out sank in, I was a bit stuck!
