I moved into my new house in Oct and within weeks the patio stated turning green (and I dont just mean a little bit either) also our house has been built in cotswold stone and some of the bricks are also turning green. I have tried using a pressure washer and patio cleaner but it only works for a day or two and then it returns. Can anyone give any advice on how best to get rid of it for good if possible?
Try Jeyes fluid - it seems to work on our patio !.

Yup :) Jeyes Fluid or.....Cif Oxygel diluted 'floor strength' I discovered this by accident last year when I ran out of Jeyes :) It smells better than Jeyes too, so now I alternate :) I just water on with a can, brush vigorously and then leave it to dry, no rinse till later ;) gives the oxygen time to work. You have to keep the dogs off till its rinsed and dry tho ;)
cool will try both of these options then. Am i right in thinking that you need to do this all the time and there is no way of getting rid of it for goo?
There are some granuales you can get that you put on, they break the algae down and then you brush it off, that I believe isnt harmful to plants. But can never remember the name of it :( Can find out if you want. will say, dont get Jayes fluid on grassit will die :(. i use a pressure washer or some cheap bleach to do mine, Lea :)
I was about to say the same, a pressure washer removes all green from our patio and no need for Jeyes or disinfectants. If I want to 'wash' it I use a non-bio washing powder watered down after pressure washing.
Just thinking forgetting the cleaning if it is turning green that quickly there must be a lot of water lying around it. I would try and deal with this first. Is the guttering OK? is there enough drainage around the ground area?
I'd scrub Domestos in and leave it for about an hour and then wash off. It'll kill anything growing on it and smell more pleasant than Jeyes fluid. There won't be a permanent solution to getting rid of it for good but if you do this on a regular basis it'll keep it at bay. Your patio must be damp or shaded or both to have it that bad.

Hmm, have to say, ours doesn' go green very quickly but our yard does lately, in shaded places. I've even seen moss growing on the pavements in the last year never seen that before.
I have a pressure washer and have probs with green gunk on my patio. I use Jayes if the dogs won't be out for a couple of days. otherwise I just use vert hot water with some household cleaning fluid
