We have a male lab 16 months old bar a couple of weeks. We bought him from a well established gundog breeder in Norfolk at just over 10 weeks old. We did have a bitch puppy but took her back for exchange after having her for 7 weeks. She was a lovely puppy but very nervous, even frightened to walk on the patterned carpet for a day and had to be carried outside for 3 and didn't like me at all. To get to the point, our boy (he tried to sell us 2!) is sick every 3 or 4weeks, has anal gland probs, once cleared 3 times in 5 weeks, recurring ear infections, eats loads of grass, always itching and biting which leads to skin infections and sores. The vet sent hair and skin scraping for testing and he is sensitive to most antibiotics. He has been on some sort of medication for about two thirds of his life .He had ear mites and worms when we got him.We took him to the vet the next day to be checked, he was back after 3 days with sickness, and drank loads from day one and did so for a few weeks. The vet was even telling me I had forgotten what it was like to have a puppy, but he has been different from the others all the way along. He is very excitable and hyper at times, when he gets very red and hot and flops down. He has been very hard work but is the most lovable dog we have had.He has been neutered. Vet says definite weakness. Breeder says load of ****We have had labs and labx 40years.Can have a full refund if we return him!!! Can't do that. Don't think from what I have read his mother or father should be bred from any more,I would value your opinions. The father of the puppy we took back(very upsetting at the time) was 12 years old, although jumping around like a puppy.

I am upset about the pup that was returned I wonder what happened to her?
It really gets me mad when they tell people they can return the dog for a refund.
Anyway here what I would do if I were you,go to the citizens advice bureu
or trading standards office as dogs come under the sale of goods act ie: must be of merchantable value ( a pet for the family etc..) there has been instances when I have advised people via Dogs today when they have not only recovered their Vets fees/purchase price but also been able to keep the dog.
If in doubt you can phone me on 01254207660 and I will help you if I can
