Hi there, well i'm a showing newbie as i've only been showing for about 9 months.  First off i'd find a ringcraft class near where you live and join that, there'll be people there who can give you lots of tips from their own experiences.  Dogs can't be shown until they reach 6 months of age and you don't have to start off with small shows.  We did though, we started with companion shows, then tried the open shows and have also now tried the champ shows.
We're learning as we go and it's great fun and we're going to keep it that way, if we go to a show and we don't get placed well so what, we make a day of it meeting up with people we know.
Plus at the end of the day we know we're taking the best dog home 8-)  Good luck!

Find your local ringcraft, there are previous posts on here with links, or someone clever will be on soon to find you a link. You don't have to start with the smaller shows but it's probably best for both you and your dog - try some open or companion shows before moving onto the Championship ones. You can show your dog from 6 months onwards, though some shows will allow 4 month puppies not for competition which helps get them used to the atmosphere. Your ringcraft will teach you how to stand and move your dog to show her to the best advantage. As she's only 8 weeks she won't be able to go anywhere till she's vaccinated, but you can go along to the ringcraft and to some shows without her and have a look at what goes on. Don't teach the sit yet if you want to show her as it will encourage her to sit after moving in the ring, just try and tempt her into stands with titbits, just once or twice at a time so she doesn't get bored. And be warned it's VERY addictive!! :-D
