Hi,
I'm seeking some advice.
Our goldie who is normally very placid as done something twice now which is out of character & were not sure how to deal with it.
It happened again today for the second time. I was out walking her & the other dog earlier & Cara was playing ball. We met a couple of her friends & she was fine playing ball with them. She is quiet fast so other dogs often don't get chance to get the ball before her. She was playing with one dog in particular & she was fine when he got the ball.
However a dog that we have never see before came & joined us & she was fine running around with it but they both went for the ball & i'm not quite sure what happened but next minute they were fighting over the ball.
What is the best way to nip this in the bud before it happens again & why would she suddenly become like this.

Why did she do it?
Because a lot of dogs do not do sharing............
It is natural, the ball is resource and highly covetable one, I don't think anyone or anything could get a ball from my GSD........!
The answer is, if your dog is playing with other dogs, remove the ball.............

It's like you having some delicious chocolate and someone else coming and taking it off you and eating it - you wouldn't be impressed would you, i know i wouldn't!!
As far as your dog is concerned that ball is thiers - they will be coming home with it no matter what! Agree with tohme - take the ball away - end of problem. :)

I agree ...my older girl is ball obsessed if another dog approaches to play ..the ball goes in my pocket I dont really know what she would do if I carried on ...it just seemed sensible to me to put it away as it is her prize possession!!
She then follows me watching my pocket and the other dogs usually wander off..
