hi all brock has a sore ear its red and waxy ,ill make an appointment at the vets tomorrow but is there anything i can use to remove the wax its black cheers dawn

Or Olive oil, soak some cotton wool or tissue and gently clean with that...all the best, Dawn

Smelly black gunk in the ears usually needs some ear drops from the vet.

Once the infection has cleared, you could try cooled boiled green tea to clean the ears once a week, using cotton wool. :) It's a natural remedy. ;)

If your dog gets a lot of ear infections then it is usually a sign of an allergy, & would be a great time to try a change in food.

I find Otodex ear drops very good - they always worked great on my GSD when he started scratching his ear. :-)

Luke warm Olive Oil is the best for us, sure it would work the same for dogs, but don't poke anything in it like a cotton bud, you could cause a lot of damage.  This goes for your ears too :d

good one for clearing stubborn ear wax is thornit powder... particularly after an ear infection whereas ear drops can make the ear doubly sticky and smelly imo

Hi all, just found this site, my beardie petra has had ear wax for some time and have found some great tips from you all. She has been to the vets and had ear drops but the black gunge is still there so now i'll try your tips
