in the last two weeks my male dog has been licking a lot,he just wont stop he has licked himself bald on his left front leg. i cant seem to stop him any one no what it could be and any ideas how to stop it :rolleyes:

This is believed to be related either to stress or boredom. The licking releases calming endorphins but also the friction hair and can cause very nasty wounds. Once there is discomfort, the dog will try to soothe it by licking - and the wound gets worse. It's a vicious circle.

Has your household routine changed at all recently, which has upset him? Is he left alone for long periods?

nothing has changed we did move in october but he has settled in fine. i never leave him as i dont work if any thing he gets out more now(we have moved from a third floor flat to a house with garden). :confused:
