Ok, this is just out of curiosity, my male GSD is 29 in tall and 31 in long.  I was told by the breeder/handler from Castlebrook Shepherds that I could not show him because he was too tall for the standard.  I know that the top should be 26 in tall, by 30in long, but I was wondering if it was true.  And, he is not a King Shepherd or a Shiloh Shepherd, he has all western lines.

Thanks.

The German & UK breed standard states
Size
Ideal height (from withers and just touching elbows): dogs: 63 cms (25 ins); bitches: 58 cms (23 ins). 2.5 cms (1 in) either above or below ideal permissible.

So yes your dog is over size but if you were in the UK there are no disqualifying faults in the breed standard, but if the judges judge to the breed standard if would depend on how serious a fault being 3 ins over the breed standard is considered There is no disqualifying fault for height in the AKC breed standard as far as I am aware & I presume you are in the USA

There is no set length for a GSD only the proportions of heighy to length

Body
Length measured from point of breast bone to rear edge of pelvis, exceeding height at withers. Correct ratio 10 to 9 or 8 and a half.

There is no such thing in the FCI or UK KC as a "King" or "Shiloh"  Shepherd. & I don't think the AKC recognise them either

The SV is very strict over size & all dogs are measured before being judged & oversized dogs are disqualified & fail the breed survey or Korung if they are greatly oversized
