Anyone know anything about artificial insemination with dogs. I have picked a stud dog for my bitch, won't be breeding her until later this year.
The dog is in Belgium, it's the only one i've seen that i realy like. Traveling to Belgium isn't a problem realy, i'm in the process of getting a pet passport. My only worry is getting the dates right, so that i can get her to the stud dog at the right time. I was going to drive & get the ferry, but flying would be a quicker way of getting there. I can't book the flight in advance because i don't know a definate date for her season, last season was three weeks early. Can anyone recommend airlines that carry Big Dogs.I've heard of AI being carried out on dogs, has anyone got any opinions on it.

Sorry, can't help on the AI front but with regard to airlines, do Aer Lingus fly to Belgium? My friends will be taking their Bernese Mountain Dog back to the USA with them next year and have spoken to various airlines in preparation. Aer Lingus have been by far the most helpful.

Hi ShaynLola,
I don't think so, some friends of mine tried to fly to Birmingham with a dog and i think they tried Aer Lingus . Maybe they do take dogs on long haul flights though, i might check them out, although i might go with the chunnel, i'm not keen on putting her in the cargo hold.

Thanks anyway,

Jim

I agree that the chunnel would probably be less stressful for all concerned...I don't like the idea of putting my dogs in a cargo hold either if there is another feasible option available. Good luck with whatever you decide anyway :)
