My friend has just got a siberian husky pup and when we went to ringcraft tonight nobody was quite sure if they are a free standing breed or a stacked breed.Anybody any idea please

No doubt a Sibe owner will be along soon, but they are free standing. (would hate to see them stacked)

I have always seen them freestanding

i always free stand mine as does just about everyone else i know who shows!  some people do stack but it is not the norm.

definately free standing!!  good luck to your friend with their new baby:cool:

i hate seeing stacked huskies in the show ring.  there is no need for it.  unfortunately it seems to be occurring more often.

what is the diffrence between free standing or stacked?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 27.01.06 12:56 UTC
Free-standing is when the dog puts itself into a natural position, and stacked is when the handler positions feet etc and hold the dog's head and tail in place.

so like rotties are free standing and things like chihuahuas are stacked

It doesn't go by size. ;) Many gundogs are stacked - dalmatians are always shown free-standing (in the UK).

I have always seen Chi's freestanding (except when being examined on the table) and often see Rotties stacked and rarely freestanding. :D

But what's it called when the dogs legs are positioned but stood freely (IE how I show my aussies!) :D
- By Brainless [gb] Date 27.01.06 14:03 UTC
I would still call that stacked, as the dog ahsn't adopted the position, it is just staying in it wityhout being touched.

are most terriers stacked
