Topic Dog Boards / General / dobermann weight?

Hi all,
just wondering what the weight of an adult (male) dobe should be. There is nothing on KC breed standards that states this. They only have the height.
Thanks
Em

My friends 3 males have all been around 42kg.

Thanks brainless,
was just wondering as blade is now 7 months, (so height growing almost over ) but still has alot of filling out (or body maturing) to do. He is at the moment about 26.5"-27 " so hoping no more height goes on as the 27" is standard.  A rough weight was 34 kilo's so he is ok at the moment, just don't want him to get overweight.
he is looking really fantastic hopefully he will stay that way as I want to show him... never done it before, but I think he will do well in the ring, but then I am biased

Hi Emz

Look forward to seeing you at the shows - when is your first one?  My pups first show (open) is this Saturday and first Ch Show the following week :-)

Wish you luck :-)

Hi they do average in at around 40 - 43kg depending on the lines etc, some of the European lines mature slower, my male was 41kg and did not differ from that where as my dobe bitches tended to fluctuate more depending on hormones lol

Ok thanks all,
well he has got some big dogs in his lines, his grand sire is 60 kg (or about that weight) Nitro del rio Bianco. You may have heard of him as he is shown. So we could expect him to be fairly big.

I take it you mean he is shown overseas?
- By Emz77 [gb] Date 26.01.06 15:43 UTC
Yes Liisa, he is Italian champ. But thought that you may have heard of him (or his offspring)

 I knew my guy was on the small side, but wow!  Remy's only 33kg, and he's a couple of pounds overweight, bless him!

My boy is 42kg (22 months). Very much a slim jim though, think he's just pure muscle

Hi
Had my boy weighed yesterday and he's 39kg. He's almost a year old does this sound about right as my husband thinks he's looking a bit on the slight side. I actually think he looks o.k:rolleyes:
Thanks:cool:

Sounds fine to me :D My boy looked like a lanky teenager for a long time, but has really broadened out over the last 5 or so months.

MsDaisy,
I think it takes along time for the body to mature/muscle up. I know blades dad is still getting there, he is now 2 and quite complete. So don't worry about being lanky! You should see blade lol  I know in his line that they take a while to mature, (not sure if that is just because he is from a continental line ;-)
