Hi,
Just been settling down for a big cuddle and discovered a lump about the size of a 10p piece behind his front shoulder. Doing a search there seems to be a few posts about lumps from bad falls, over-exersion and stings. I will keep an eye on it, does it sound like one of these? Whereabouts should I be concerned if I find lumps?
Any advice much appreciated - cant find anything in my books!

Keep an eye on it and if it is there tomorrow then go and see your vet to get it checked out ;)

Definately get it checked by the vets because you never know but if it is smooth and mobile it is very likely to be a lypoma i.e. a harmless fatty lump if not simply a haematoma from a bash as you suggest so I don't think you should be worrying too much.

Has yhe been chipped? Have known a dog to have an allergic reaction to a hcip that broke, and a bad reaction set in starting with a lump.
i was going to ask if your dog had been chipped my lucy was chipped then one day she had a lump came up between her shoulders about 4 months after she had been chipped, after a corse of anti biotics they took her in to do a bi opsy and discovered the chip had moved up into the muscle and was causing a problem so they removed the chip she then had a reaction to something they wasnt sure what and had to have a second surgery 3 weeks later because the area where they stitched the muscle had become infected and she was filling up with fluid at one point she looked very sorry for herself with half her back shaved and nearly 2 weeks of walking around with 2 drains to make sure she didnt fill with fluid again now she is fine she has a scar but you dont notice it unless you look very closley

It's not in the right place for an injection site is it? Just thinking of vaccination reaction. I know it's a while but some lumps which are due to this do take a while to go down.

Hi,
Thanks for all your replies - met up with a very "doggie" friend today and she thinks it looks very much like a bite or a sting, so will be keeping an eye on it. It is very smooth, symmetrical and mobile and doesnt hurt at all if you touch it. He hasnt been microchipped yet.
