Where to start. Basically, my dog got attacked 2 days running by the same dog. I was walking Gonzo (firenze was at puppy group with OH)down the lanes, and there are roads that cross over the lanes at 3 points, you know the type I mean. So I keep him on a long lead. Well, this woman comes up with 2 dogs, 1 on a lead and one not. The one who was not just ran at Gonz and attacked him, I feel bad but instinctivley I kicked him out the way and picked Gonz up. I know I shouldnt of kicked him, but Gonz in a patterdale Terrier and this dog was a damm sight bigger. So I shouted at the woman to keep her dog on a lead, or a muzzle if off the lead, and took Gonzo home. He had some cuts, but nothing major, still took him to the vet for a check though. Then the next day I wanted to take Gonz to the same lanes to see that there is nothing to be scared of there, back on the horse and all that. The same woman and dog off the lead, the same situation, Gonz was bit again, but this time he did fight back, and I had to kick this dog away, again. Im just so angry. I want to report this woman, as it may happen to a child, or a much younger or smaller dog could be killed. But I dont know where she lives. Does anyone know where I stand, as I know I shouldnt really of kicked her dog, but if I didnt, god knows what would of happened.

well personally I wouldnt blame you for trying to remove her dog if it was actually attacking yours,( and if there was blood then it would appear that it was) but I dont know what the law is on this, Im sure someone else on here will know.
I reckon it was fine for you to kick her dog, if it was aggressive and ran at yours - personally I would report her to the dog warden and also to the police.
Personally, I would go back to the same lane every day and wait for this woman (without my dog), and if she appeared with this dog off lead and unmuzzled, I would pursue her with things like "Hey - why isn't your dog muzzled?" "Can you give me your name and address, I'm reporting you to the dog warden", "My dog has X injuries and has already shown fearful behaviour to other dogs since yours viciously attacked it" and so on. You can tell her that you will be there every day until you see her dog muzzled and/or on a lead. Might not be very orthodox way of dealing with it, but I've seen dog wardens and police deal so badly with so many reported incidents that I just do my own thing (within the law) now.

And get done for harrassment - lovely....
No, I said "within the law" - not sure why that would be harrassment, Surannon?? No swearing, no abuse, no aggression. Fortunately we live in a free world and have freedom of speech and if the poster wants to go and stand in this lane and speak out loud to this woman who is also there, I don't think that can be construed as harrassment.
And I doubt the woman will be "doing" anyone for anything, after what her dog did...
thats what i would do also. go back and question her, dont get angry but express your concerns seriously to her, dont get too threatening- that will get her back up. tell her what her dog could have done to yours, or as you say- a child etc.
goodluck x

I would be extremely careful in these circumstances. You could be getting yourself into all sorts of hot water if you pursue this woman...she could be mentally unbalanced and carrying a knife for all you know, or have some dodgy relatives who might wait for you next time.
I'd report it to the police and the dog warden and leave it at that.

Please do not think that just because this dog is dog aggressive that it will necessarily attack a child; a lot of dogs who do not get on with others are absolutely fine with children and people and vice versa.
Report all incidents to the dog warden and the police, there is action that both can take if necessary.
I have, on occasion, had to whack a few dogs in this type of situation as it is my job to protect my dogs from selfish, inconsiderate and sometimes just plain stupid owners.......

I personally would not approach her, I would report her, These days you can get done for harressment,
A.B.H. [just for making her feel threatened,] I know the world has gone mad, but it's not worth it!
Ring the local council and ask them the route of action. They own the road!! Best of luck!!

I would very swiftly report her to the police and your dog warden, this dog should be on a lead. And I absolutely would have done the same thing and done whatever it took to get the dog away from mine (you are quite within your rights to do what you did, so do not worry about that for an instance longer) I'm afriad this woman would have got a nasty mouthful at the same time too. I find it unbelievable that she would continue to have her dog off lead yet again in the same place, she is either very stupid or very cockey, either way the situation needs a legal figurehead to deal with her as she obviously was not phased by what happened before.
I would also have her pay your vet bill!! :-)

Thanks for the advice. I will report her to the dog warden, but will first contact the council. If I do speak to her, I dont think I would be able not to shout tbh, especially if her dog is off again.
I didnt mean that the dog could attack a child in the sense of him just going for her, I meant as my dog was on a lead, if I was with a child, they could of got caught up in it, or got nipped in the process, dya know what I mean.
I will report her, just hope she goes there the same time everyday.
Thanks all :)
