Hi
Me again, lol you would think I have never had a litter wouldnt you :o))
Anyway another question.
My small dog who is 3.5 weeks pregnant has gone of her food. Will eat a tiny bit of cooked chicken but that is all. She did this with her last litter to but not so early in the pregnancy.
She is very bright and well so I am not concerned about her.
She is very small and doesnt have a huge appitite at the best of times,.not a gready dogs eat whats she wants and leaves the rest. She has no excess fat on her and is all muscle.
I am interested to know how much food does a bitch need to eat to produce a healthy litter & How much of what she eats goes to the pups?
Is there anything I could try her on. She has also stopped drinking milk. Should I be giving her any suppliments while she is like this. Normally she is fed on a raw diet but wont even look at that.
Im pretty sure she will start eating properly again when the pups are born.

Hi, I took my dog to the vets last friday as she was not eating and is four weeks pregnant. He totally put my mind at rest and said that it was perfectly normal and she will eat when she needs to. The pups would be in no danger and will be getting all the nourishment thay need from mum. He said that it is when they are born is the time when she must eat lots and be worried if she does not. He also checked her over verified the pregnancy, said he could feel at least four pups. So if you are still worried a trip to the vets would put your mind at rest. I was worried that she was not pregnant but ill so it totally reassured me.

Hi
Thanks
Thats what I thought but it is comforting when some one else says it. She ate really well last night and at the moment working her way through a chicken wings so obviously ok.
Thanks again and good luck with your pups
Wendy
Glad that she's eating better now - maybe she was suffering from a bit of morning sickness, around 3 weeks is that sort of time.

Hi
I think she is having cravings now lol.
Son was eating tin spaggetti for tea and she sat watching him. She never bothers at meal times. he put some down for her and she ate it like she has never been fed. I wouldnt mind but she had a bowl of fresh mince in the kitchen and has totally ignored it.
I think I am going to age 10 years and have a lot more grey hairs before these pups are born. She is now having bother jumping up on the chairs. Only 3.5 weeks hate to think what she is going to be like near her due date.
Was was wretching last night but nothing came up
