When I got my GSD puppy at 7 wks he was fed on Pedigree Complete,Chicken and Rice. After a few months he seemed to be very fed up with it. A couple of months ago I changed him to Eukaneuba Puppy/junior Large breed. He absolutely loves this, but the prob is his "poo" is very dark green in colour and comes out in a HUGE sloppy pile.Which is very embarassing and hard to clean up! He is 7mths old now and looks in excellent condition. He enjoys his food, so I'm reluctant to change it. I feed him twice a day, about 570 grams in total. Any advice anyone?

That doesn't sound good - have you spoken to your vet about it? It could be that he's intolerant to one of the ingrediants and maybe changing him onto an allergy free food may help him.
Hopefully there'll be someone else around soon, who can offer more constructive advice!!

Fiona could be right, something in the food maybe doesn't agree with hom. Also, 570g seems like way too much food. Don't go by what it says on the bag, it's always way over. I've always used James Wellbeloved, as others I've tried sometimes give the symptoms you describe. b

Dark green poo is quite normal with Eukanuba so don't worry about that. Sounds like you are feeding him too much and it is going straight through. Try feeding him smaller amounts more often and keep an overall eye on his weight so you can add and subtract as required.
Totally agree with whoever said don't worry about the recommended amounts on the bag. It's just a rough guide. Dogs are exactly the same as people when it comes down to weight gain/loss and metabolic rates - it's an individual thing!!!.

Ive always found with eukanuba, especially at work that it is well under the recommended amount, our pups are fed 600g a day, split into three meals of 200g, but i have to say that not all dogs are going to do well on it, i personally hate the stuff and would never feed it to my dogs, i have always fed purina growth when they have been puppys, but because that is all we have at work that is what i have to use it.......yuk!!!

I have been advised to cut the size of his feeds down to see if the problem corrects itself. Some also say don't worry about the dark green colour, the vet nurse said I could try introduce another food gradually. Not sure what to do really! He really enjoys the food, and looks good, but I'm not really happy with what comes out! Thanks for everyones replies anyway.

Eukanuba and Max's present food K9 Natural Organic have been the only foods to give him well formed solid stools. All the other foods we tried him with made him very loose and you had to give him way too much. The only reason we changed from Eukanuba to K9 was that the former is 30% Protein whereas the latter is only 12% protein. This was thought to increase Max's activity level to a ridiculous level so we changed when he was 1 year old. Dont think Max's stools were greenish though.
