Hi all,my girl had her pup's at 8:00am Satuerday,she had 10 pup's within 5 hours.
The last one born was dead and looked like he had been for maby a day or two and we have one small and really slow pup,not sure if he's gona make it,Obie is going to the vet today to make sure thier are no pup's left or placenta's.She doesnt seem to be feeling great, she's eating and drinking but is very slugish also she's been panting and shivering a bit,do you think this may be due to her uterus still contracting?
Hope everything is ok and that Iam just overreacting.
Thanks

i am no means an expert but if the pup had been dead for a couple of days then there may be some infection setting in. when you go to the vets mention this and they will probs give her some antibiotics or something. hope all is going to be ok and good luck
Congratulations on your new babies. I hope all goes well with them all especially mom and smaller baby.
Regards
Janet

Congratulations and I hope all's well - what did the vet say? :-)
Well we went to the vet and she couldn't feel any more pup's inside, obie was still shaking and panting, her heart rate was normal and so was her temp, so she gave her a shot of oxytocin and a calcium shot after that she passed two placentas and was feeling better, the vet said she thaught Obie is fine and said the shaking may br due to her uterus contracting back as it's very large right now and is painfull for her.She seems to be getting to hot in the whelping box.
As for the slow pup,he died yesterday and we almoast lost another one from her laying on it., I was right in thier and was helping her with the pups then I counted again and one was missing so I lifted her up and he was under her, when I pulled him out he was gasping for air he did not look good but he seems to be ok now thank god.
Thankz everyone for your replies.

Hope Obie's feeling better now. Sorry you lost the poorly pup, but thank goodness you were right there when she lay on the other one - just goes to show you can't leave them for a minute I guess!
