I have been looking at the disposable whelping boxes and they look pretty good. Not cheap but figure once you have brought the wood ect and nagged at husband to make it they could work out a lot easier than a home made wooden one. And I suppose disposing of it after is easier to.

Has anyone tried them and how did they find them? I have  a small breed so was thinking about a medium sized one.

Are they strong enough to last the 8 or so weeks they are needed for. Do they have any major draw backs / great advantages compared to a wooden box. Cant see from the pictures what is on the floor, are they easily cleaned. I would be putting newspaper and vet beds on them but a wipeable surface is a big plus.

Thanks

Wendy

We are expecting our second litter next week and will be using a disposable whelping box. They are very tough and waterproof, ideal for a litter. The base of the box is cardboard but it is waterproof. I cover the bottom in newspaper and use vet bedding as this is also waterproof. You need to buy the wooden rails with the box so your bitch doesn't crush her babies if they are laying at the edge of the box (they usually do in a huddle). I kept mine from our first litter and will be re-using them. You could also buy similar from B&Q but make sure the wood is smooth.

I bought mine from petplaypads.co.uk
