can anybody help. i have a bitch who could be nearly 3 weeks pregnat. she has just lost blood and alot of jelly like stuff from her back end. about the size of a ladies hand. what might this be. she is not poorly. behaving normally. eating well.  thank you for your help.

Hi you did not say if it was coming from her vulvo or her back passage any way if its from vulva she is poss lossing her pups but ever way you need to see a vet asp regards debbie.

it came from her vulva.  could she be lossing the puppies like that dont they absorb them when it is that early in pregnancy.

Hi i had this happen 2 years ago and my girl lost her pups she lost a lot of blood and i sent the day at vets till she stoped bleeding please get her to the vets asp. sorry some bitchs do reobsob pups but they can still abaut sorry about spelling.

my friends dog did exactly the same. however she has carried on getting bigger so she has been scanned. she was told there is 2 puppies there.  my girl has not lost anything since this episode.

yes if your lucky she could carry on and have puppy but i still think you need to talk to a vet for your bitchs sake.  was the blood red or blown.old or new blood.

The same thing happened to a bitch that came to one of my dogs years ago.  The vet put her on a course of antibiotics as a precaution, and kept an eye on her for a few days, but she didn't lose anything else.  He didn't know if she was pregnant as it was before the days when vets had scanners. She went on to whelp 2 healthy pups naturally, but he felt that she was initially probably carrying several more that she lost.
