- By sheryl [gb] Date 22.07.02 12:39 UTC
hi everyone, i yhink im going to have to take rosie to the vets, she has a greyish white lump just above her private part, shes had it for two days now, im so scared, im hoping it wont turn out to be anything too serious, she is eating well, and is still her playfull self, if fact she looks well and all appears well, apart from the dreaded lump, it could be an insect bite or an absest, but as im not sure im going to get the vet to check her over, ill let you know what happens, but im keeping everything crossed, id hate to loose my best friend, as anyone who owns a dog will know exactly how i feel and what im going through, sheryl

Oh Sheryl,

I am worried at you worrying. It will be OK tell yourself. Does your vet not have a surgery you can go and sit and wait if you don't want to wait till tomorrow.

Let us know asap..

Oh Sheryl,

I don't know what to say to make you not worry.

I though all vets had the surgery times 1 or 2 hours everyday.

Try not to think about it it may be nothing. It could be a bite or something. How old is she?

Pam

Sheryl, If it has only come up over the last two days, even if your worst fears prove to be true, which I doubt, you have sort help soon enough for things to be put right. I would be inclined to think it may be a herinia but you can't dyagnose by internet and you should not try, in fact unless you are qualified you should not anyway. I have said what I have in the hope of making you relax a bit, when you do find out what the vet thinks it is, I hope you feel very relived, and may be even a bit silly. All the best. Ja:)kie

HI Sheryl,

What kind of a lump is it, and without getting to graphic (!) where about is it... Is the lump in her fur? or on the bare skin?
Cleo had one of these and i was quite worried, but the vet told me it was a blocked pore, and to compress it with hot salty water to unblock it - un the end it popped just like a big spot! it was very unpleasant - since then it has come back a couple of times but always goes away after a week or so.
- By sheryl [gb] Date 22.07.02 13:38 UTC
hi, the lump is greyish white in colour, its on her bear skin directly above her minnie lala, it you know what i mean, my vet isant availale honest, thanks so much for replying, im going to try the salty water, i think it may be that, fingers crossed, and thankyou so much, im really greatfull to you, thankyou pam also,

sounds similiar to cleos, and i wouldn't worry too much, you can get her to the vet tomorrow and not a lot will have changed! Cleo appeared to be grey as well, but i think that was due to the skin being slightly stretched if you know what i mean - as her skin is black. Does it look like a spot at all? Is it very hard or slightly pliable - basically if its the same as cleos then its a spot, adn they cant do anything about it! BUt always best to go and have your mind put at rest - most important - try not to worry!

Sheryl ....I dont want to sound silly ...but is it a small lump? Could it possibly be a tick that has attached?

Melody

Could it possibly be an engorged tick?? My first dog a Groenendael had one near a teat, and I thought it might be a mammary tumour, but showed it to dog groomer friends first, and they recognised what it was and dealt with it for me. Never had another since thank god.

thankyou so much for all the kind support ive been given regarding my westie ROSIE, i bathed the lump in warm salty water, no sooner had i done this the lump burst, but i still took her along to the vets for him to have a look, he said he couldnt see anything wrong whatsoever, he said it was a spot that had burst, no treatment needed, just carry on with the kind advice id been given and bathe it it warm salty water for a few more days, he gave her the booster jab that she needed, talked about me getting her chipped, i said id think about that one because my sisters dog was ill afterwards, he gave me 50 periton tabs, aparently they are antihistamines,(exuse the spelling, not sure why he thought she needed these, but i thought id try them and see how ROSIE got one with them, but i got the impression the tablets were not given for the spot, she is fit and healthy just as i was hoping i would hear, i walked her there and back as its only 2 miles each way and ROSIE fully enjoyed herself, as soon as we got home i fed and watered her, and she is now fast asleep under the kitch table, i am so greatfull it has turned out ok for little rosie, i think in future i wont panic worry and think the worst, but id just like to thank you all so much for your kind words and support, best wishes to you all SHERYL X
