My old cavalier (13) has started opening the fridge (dont know how) and stealing . This morning she stole and ate half a pound oif cheese. Is this polyphagia or what

Id say it was a clever dog eating nice food.

You can get child locks for fridges, or use the scruffy method, gaffer tape.

It takes a really smart dog to feed himself.  What a time saver.  :-)

your lucky I know someone who's dog  raided the fridge and ate everything including a whole tub of butter...

He came home and the fridge was completely empty with all the wrapping on the floor..
she was a GSD.

Typical Cavaliers, LOL -but how clever to open the fridge! I agree to DEFINITELY get a child lock for it. My Cavalier nearly ate himself to death once, it was touch and go whether he would survive -he just did not stop.

I'd suggest getting her checked out by a vet too, as a sudden change in behaviour like this could indicate a medical problem (such as thyroid).  Fridge locks work well on flip top bins too.......
