Most of you will remember me posting about Gypsy and her irresistible urges to challenge the other girls for "alpha dog" status when she was obviously not alpha dog material - and ther damage caused, to the dogs, our own well-being and bank balance :(
Well, there is a very happy outcome. I had a phonecall yesterday, from a friend in the village, who had heard, via the pub grapevine (or village jungle drums if you prefer ;) ) that we were considering re-homing Gypsy - and she gave me an absolute roasting for not having considered her - she's owned labs and rotties in the past, and has been counting down the days until she retires (about 7 years I think) so that she can have a puppy again. She works p/t, and has recently been diagnosed with diabetes, and wants to try and control it through diet and exercise if possible - and, as she says, if she has a dog, she will happily walk for miles.
So, happy endings - Gypsy will become an only dog, and Pam will have a walking companion - and we can see her quite regularly - but I don't think that we shall arrange to walk the dogs together for quite a while ........
We were arranging for her to take Gypsy this evening, but realised that Pam will be working tomorrow & Friday mornings, so it will be Saturday now before she goes she's going to have a bath before then - but don't tell her.
Now, all I have to do is to make sure that we have no more confrontations before Saturday :D

That is excellent news Margot, I'm sure parting will be hard but I'm also sure it will give you a great deal of comfort to know that she will have such a lovely home.
That is great news.....probably the very best outcome you could have wished for in the circumstances. You must be very relieved.
Cathy

Great news Margot :)
Sounds ideal for Gypsy and somewhere you can be totally relaxed about too. I know it will be a tearful day when the time comes but sounds like Gypsy's really landed on her furry paws and it will be a huge strain relieved from you and the pack.
Good luck and best wishes,
Teri :)

Sounds like a good solution all round :) At least you'll be able to keep in touch with her :D
You must be so relieved, hope she settles in well (what am I saying? its what she wants, to be top dog and no contests :) )
Hope it will help to soften the pain of parting with her.
Regards

Thank heavens this one has now gone to a responsible owner. I hope you aredoing the responsible thing and getting the rest rehomed so they can be properly looked after in care and safety????

Wooh! I've obviously rattled your cage Clem (or whoever you are:rolleyes:). Yes, we are human, yes, our dogs are dogs. And yes, being human beings, and the dogs being true dogs (and we use no electronic methods of control ) they can have upsets. We dealt with this situation in the responsible manner. I do not intend to rehome any of the others. Sorry.
No you must excuse me - I have to go and beat the others into submission, and obviously, must feed some of the cats to the dogs:rolleyes:
What on earth has led to this comment, Clem? Have you just joined to say this??

Have just logged in and read the scenario on Gypsy. What on earth is Clem on about. I have 4 bitches who live in total harmony. Count myself very lucky. Does she not know that when bitches do fall out they can fight to the death and no amount of socialising will stop this other than always keeping them apart. The right thing to do is part them and if you are lucky enough for someone , especially locally to take them then that would be the best scenario. The aggressor can then lead a calm live by itself getting one to one attention. Some bitches just cannot cope with not receiving 100% attention. Think the things said in Clems post are totally out of order.
Good luck with Gypsy.

Hi Alison
A troll is a person who baits the forum members. Clem is a regular who gets banned then just when we are lulled into a false sense of security re-registers under a different name. Clem is actually not a she as such but a cross-dressing GothRockChick with an multiple personality disorder (allegedly ;)) We don't why he keeps coming back to pester us we can only assume he lurrvvves us :D
