Hi, it's our first show on saturday and i was wondering what i need to take with me.
- By STARRYEYES Date 16.01.06 10:49 UTC
what breed do you have?
- By ice_queen Date 16.01.06 11:04 UTC
Lead, Bait, Brush, Ringclip.
- By Moonmaiden Date 16.01.06 11:06 UTC
LOL Where do I start it depends on the breed ;) & for yourself depends on the location ;)

Smooth coated breeds need a lot less than the hairy ones !
- By ChristineW Date 16.01.06 11:34 UTC
Water & a bowl for the dog.   Food for you as most of the catering at shows is a rip off.
- By nikkiid [gb] Date 16.01.06 11:48 UTC
FOR DOG-depending on breed, this is just what we take:cool:
Collar/lead for showing,Brush,towel,water/bowl, Poop bags,titbits

FOR YOU
Juice or flask of coffe,muchies-it can be a long expensive day otherwise,camera,ringclip-gauranteed i have forgot at least one of the last two recently:rolleyes:

always have a look or get map of where the show is,aa online is great.  try to get early night and head off early to get there in plenty of time allowing stopping for your dog to toilet if it's going to be a trek.
Good luck:cool:

Water & a bowl for the dog. :eek:  Boy that would be heaven ;-)    Now why did I pick my breed.

I have a A4 page printed that I tick off as I am packing. It has 22 items on it.

Are you going to Manchester or is it an open show?
If it's a championship show, you will also need a benching chain and some bedding for the bench.
Again, if it's Manchester, you'll be able to buy a ring clip there, or if it's an an all breeds open show, there will probably be trade stands where you can buy one.
Have a good day, enjoy it and don't take it too seriously, whether you win or not!

Or a cage ;)

Dont worry about the ringclip, like ridgielover said if its a champ show you can get one there and possibly at an open show. I would take a safety pin with you just incase you havent got time to buy one or you cant find any ect... Then you can just pin your number on your top. Good luck! :D

Someone said to me when I was starting out at Champiionship shows Don't forget your passes anything else you can beg, borrow or buy.
- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 16.01.06 14:28 UTC
Don't forget your dog :d  It has been known to happen in all the excitement.  Haven't done it myself but know someone who travelled 200 miles to a show and realised when they got there tht they didn't have the dog :d

Hey Sandra, I managed to lose my passes inbetween my car and the entrance at LKA (thought I would put them in my pocket so they were handy and they must have fallen out  ) I still got in though, I was just issued with a new exit pass and a new catalogue voucher

Not something I would recommend though, after travelling all that way to think that I might not be able to show must have put 10 years on me :(

Or a strong elastic band to put over/around the ring number card on your arm.
- By Boxacrazy [in] Date 16.01.06 19:34 UTC
Blimey I take everything but the kitchen sink :D

What I do have is a magnetic pad stuck to the fridge -
It's called the dog show list - Dont Forget List :)
and here's what's on it.

Check car - Fuel/Oil/Water/Tyres
Bait - Bait bag - dog bag
Ring Clip/Arm band
Benching blanket & cage or benching chains
Water & bowls
Leads & dogs
Schedule/POP (proof of postage)/Passes/Car Park ticket
Purse/Mobile/Map
Sandwiches & Drink
Towels/Seat/Trolley
Reflective Covers & Bungees (summer)
Wet Weather gear - Show Jacket
Check dog bag for contents and first aid kit
Yourself :D

Normally in my show dog bag I have all their show leads & chains, some small towels, some grooming gear, scissors
anti slip mats, vaseline for dogs noses etc. I've also got a first aid kit for the dogs and myself.

Good Luck and Enjoy it - You'll be hooked!!

Wishing you the best of luck at your first show!  What type of Belgian have you?
For mine (Groen.), Passes, water, bowl, bait, comb, brush, water in spray bottle, show lead and chain, blanket or vetbed, poop bags...the list goes on, but they're the basics!

Enjoy,
Sarah.

don't forget the dog that made me chuckle.... i'm that scatty i probabley would:eek:.

geez it's only tuesday and i'm getting nervous i entered her into manchester then sarted panicing because i thought it was the wrong sort of show to start out on :rolleyes:but i've done it now so we have to go. wrote my list out for what i need DOG on top of list.

hi sarah mine is a Groen also.
- By LucyD [gb] Date 17.01.06 22:33 UTC
I've never forgotten the dog, but have forgotten the entire show bag, arriving with dog, cage, lead and nothing else. Had to rush round borrowing treats / brushes / ring clips!! I know someone who brought the wrong dogs, the dirty unbrushed ones instead of the clean ones!!

Check petrol in car - I've run out twice on the M1 and felt very blonde!! :-(
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 17.01.06 22:35 UTC Edited 17.01.06 22:45 UTC
Ooh! You must be careful - I think it's actually illegal to run out of petrol on a motorway! You've been very lucky to get away with it!
- By LucyD [gb] Date 19.01.06 08:26 UTC
Really?? Eek!! Problem is my petrol light's faulty - you only get 1/2 mile of petrol once it comes on, so I have to fill up as soon as it drops below a quarter, and at 6am I'm not very likely to remember to check.
