Hi, i have a 2year old male sheltie and was thinking of buying another male puppie(not sure which breed yet), but im worried cause i was told that male dogs dont get along with each other, and they would have fights.
Can someone please tell me if this is true.
Thanks.

I have always had males together - all entire and never had any problems.  We have only ever got another puppy though to go with out adult male as I didn't think he would have taken to an older dog.  They do have occassionaly scraps but that is to be expected once in a while and with ours its always over a cuddly toy!

i had a entire male gsd and castrated irish wolfhound x bearded collie, they absolutely loved each other. never had a days bother with fighting. :)
Think there might have been a cpl of years age difference between them. Hard to say exactly as they were both rescued dogs.

Would there be a difference if the dog was neuted or not, cause my shelti isnt, and i dont intend to on my next dog.
thanks

You usually only have problems if they are of similar rank (good age gap makes it likely they won't be) or if there is an in season bitch to fight over.

Otherwise you should not have a problem with a puppy understanding his place below your Sheltie, but I would not opt for a much bigger bred or one with a very dominant nature as shelties are not.

I have a problem with my 2 males, but as Brainless says, that's because they are only 3 days apart in age. :-(

Well looking at some of the previous posts i guess ive been lucky..got a male Gsd nearly 4yrs, since having him ive also had other males, 1 who was a puppy of 12wks, but also fostered a few Gsd's and Rotties, these were of various ages anything from 15mths - 6yrs and they have all got on superbly, even looked after a friends English Springer and he loved him aswell..Must admit he is a fairly laid back boy and puts up with quite a bit from the others, but i think they all know he is number 1...well number 1 out of the boys...the one that rules the roost is definitly my 16mth old Gsd bitch, lol

I have 3 entire males who live together. There is 15 months and 2 years age gaps between them. They get on fine ...we had a few minor grumbles when the youngest ones hormones kicked in but nothing dramatic and now that everyone knows there place things are nice and peaceful
