Last night our hamster decided to play hide and seek!

My OH put him in his ball and the top came off. OH looked everywhere but couldnt find him. He came and woke me up so I could help him find him. In the end we spotted him behind the fire place. I got some treats and the little bu**er came out after the food!! Time to get a new ball i think!!

Personally I don't like the balls but can see a point to them. Many MANY do come apart though and are then the cause of accidents, so always put some tape across the joins before using it -a new one will most likely also come apart sooner or later.

If you ever need to find him again and have to give up searching, put a bucket on the floor, nice food inside, make a ladder with books so he can get up, and then he'll fall in and won't be able to get back out again. :)

That brought back many memoreis....This will make you laugh..

B4 Molly came along me & the OH had a hamster called Macy, she was a firey little thing, forever nipping my fingers!  One night (god knows how!) she got out of her cage & spent all night taking chocolate buttons from the couch to behind the couch, there was a nice neat pile in the morning when we got up!  Also once whilst cleaning her out she bit me & escaped, she managed to get all the way down the stairs & into the smallest space in the wall cavity, we spent many hours trying to coax her out with treats etc & eventually gave up!  I went to run a bath shortly afterwards & guess what...there was Macy trying her hardest to get out!!!! LOL!!

Gotta admit though I find dogs a lot more amusing...:)

I saw my son putting the hamster in his cage one day and son said he'd escaped.  I asked how long he had been out for and son said not long.  A couple of weeks later I must have been feeling bored because while vacuuming son's room I decided to vacuum under son's wardrobe.  I heard this chinking noise and looked at the cylinder and there was hamster food and more hamster food and even more hamster food and shredded up paper, lots of it.  I have no idea how long the hamster was actually out for but it must have been a lot lot longer than 'not long'

As a child,my hamster escaped many times. We always used to find it in the back of the washing machine. It had made some sort of nest there with old hankies etc... I only remember it vaguely but my mum has told me about it many times. Also how it 'died' once and she revived it on the radiatior. Ok, it was probably hiberbating but hey.......

when I was a kid my hamsters always used to escape and sleep behind the boiler, at night they would get in the dog bowls and steal the biscuits :D :D

Now when my snake escaped, luckily I was a messy teenager and had all my drawers open because he fell into my knicker drawer and stayed there - luckily I didnt have an escapee hamster at the time :D :D

Yes I know what you mean about the hamster balls.  When the hamster knocks against things the lid loosens so I always put sellotape across the lid to stop it coming off whilst the hamster is in it.
A few years ago I got two chinese hamsters from a breeder.  He put them in a box together and we stopped off somewhere on the way home for 5 mins and when we came back one of the hamsters had escaped and got behind the dashboard in the car:eek: We could hear it scuffling about and nibbling at something and all the electrics were behind there:eek:  Anyway oh had to take the dashboard off to get it and fortunately it was okay and didn't appear to have done any damage.
