Good morning Everyone, 
Can anyone please tell me approximately how long a season should last.  My 9 month old Rottweiler started her first one on the 2nd January and is still bleeding.  I thought I had read somewhere that they would only bleed for around 8 - 10 days but the actual season is approximately 3 weeks...is this normal?

Hi Boudie,

some bitches bleed for only a few days and others for the duration of the season.  Personally I always take precautions with my girls and keep them away from other dogs until 28 days!  I've known a few experienced breeders who have had accidental matings at 25 days so prefer not to take any chances.

Thanks for that Teri.  She is going into kennels at the end of the month so i'm hoping she will have stopped bleeding by then (fingers crossed)
