My nana recently passed away and on the last day she mentioned that the one thing she wanted was to speak to her sister who left home at the age of 16 and never seen since and she asked me to find if she was still alive... probley unlikely as nana was 83.  All I have is her name, not sure of age etc but do have names of brothers and sisters etc... can anyone help in a starting place or do i have to little information? can anyone help?

Maybe the first place to start would be the Salvation Army?? I know they will try to help looking for people?? Otherwise, if you know Surnames etc...you can go to www.192.com(I think it's com...might be .co.uk??) and do a search...if you can narrow down the area it's better...but generally only works with people that have phone lines!!! You can pay extra, not sure how much, for a few 'fuller details' searches, but I managed to find 3 or 4 people I was looking for that way...but I did know, roughly, WHERE they lived....GOOD LUCK!

Why dont you try www.genesreunited.co.uk, I am trying to research my family tree at the moment and its amazing what you come up with, you might find relations you never knew you had, worth a try and costs nothing.

I wish you the very best of luck with this and the salvation army and missing persons bureau are the first points of call.  Please do be aware though that sometimes people don't want to be found and although the relevant organisations know of the people, they can't pass their details on directly, only with the missing persons consent.  I hope you find the person you're looking for.

I know that Friends Re-united do a family tree, you just need the Surname to get the ball rolling, maybe it is possible to trace her through that.  How sad that your Nana did not look for her beforehand, I hope that you find her. :-)
