Hi,
Joined Weight Watchers last night and wondered if anyone had been successful in losing any weight on it. I have quite a lot to loose and am not very patient LOL
Well done for joining. The biggest step is walking through the door, the challenge is to keep going every week. Try and stay to the meetings every week that you can. It is true, you can go and not have had a good week, chances are if you leave before the meeting you will have another bad week...then another..then you stop going. yet if you can stay to the meeting you are more likely to come out feeling motivated again.
Weight Watchers is great. IIf we could all wake up tomorrow a size 12/14 it would be great!
Keep going, stick with it and it will work.
hiya melster!
i did weightwatchers a few years ago and lost just over a stone in month (7lb in the first week-goes to show how much crap i must have been eating before!) then it came off at 1-2lb a week after that. In total i lost just over 2 stone, but then i fell into my old ways. Its my own fault though-i stopped going to the meetings, so found myself saying "well if i just have one......". A friend of mine is doing weitghtwatchers at the mo in prep for her '07 wedding. I think she's benn doing it since sept/oct, and so far she's lost just under 2 stone. She goes to the meetings each week (she hasn't been twice in the whole time), and said thats the best thing-it gives you something to aim for.
i've just got the slimming world books from a friend, which for me personally, would be easier than weightwatchers. I found that i had to prepare my entire days eating so i knew where my points were going. It was fine once i got into the swing of things. I just like the idea of knowing that you can eat limitless veg, pasta, meat etc, and only have to weigh the odd thing.
if the drive and willpower is there, you'll lose it regardless of what diet you choose to follow, i think.
Hi munkeemojo,
Weight Watchers now have a 'No count' programme too whereby you do not have to count points at all. I have belonged to Weight Watchers for years and years and although I know what to do, I just cannot do it on my own without going to class. I am at the moment 25 pounds over my goal so I have to get back on track and get it off! Weight Watchers is brilliant! Good Luck Melster122!

My daughter has being going to WW for over 2yrs now and reached her goal weight just over 1 yr ago, she still goes now and then to get weighed and she has lost over 4 stone in weight and is now a size 10 down from a size 18/20, so yes, if you stick at it you can do it. she has more willpower than me, I also got to goal weight, but, have put on 10lbs. in a year,so not too bad I suppose, will need to get it back off again.

Hiya, Im in weight watchers. I was 18 1/2 stone when I joined (it took a lot for me to type my weight so please be considerate) and Ive lost 2 1/2 stone (I had lost 3 up until xmas!!). WW is the best dieting. You can still have a take away or go out for an indian and still lose weight. You just have to know what to do. I found that swapping sugar for sweetener, full fat milk to skimmed and bacon for turkey rashers are all the little steps you need to make to becoming a slimmer you. I dont hardly ever eat salad so dont see it as a rabbit food diet. Im really happy on ww and Im sure you will be too. Good luck and if you ever need support PM me cos I love talking about food lol.
Tracey
i didn't know about the no count thing at WW. Hmm.....

No, Ive not been able to bring myself to try it yet. Its the cutting out bread and not snacking that bothers me! I always thought eating little and often was better than just having 3 big meals a day??
i thought that too-look at that 3 hour diet. Haven't the faintest if that works, mind. I to would suffer giving up bread-i love it.
a friend of mine swapped all her full carb products for low carb, including chocolate, biscuits and cakes pasta, cooking sauces, bread.... She lost loads of weight. She said it was the only thing that worked for her because she missed her carbs too much to cut it out competely. That type of food is so expensive though!
Thanks everyone. I am very positive about it all at the moment. But then considering it is only my 2nd day (LOL) I should be.
Will let you know how I get on. It is going to be a long process though as I have a lot to lose. Still can't believe how much I weigh. Not quite ready to tell anyone yet.
I lost two and half stone and found it the easiest and best diet I had ever been on. I am not a large amount of food eater but tend to like picking.

I did WW late 90's before I got married and lost over 2 stones in 6mths. The good thing is that its very easy to follow and you can eat what you want if you count the points.
I re-joined Oct last year as due to relationship breakdown I put most of the weight back on (had kept ot off for 8 years though). Until mid Dec I had lost 11 pounds, due to work I can't attend the class anymore so I have joined WW online.
I would recommend WW to anyone. Its far better that all the fad diets where you put the weight back on once you start to eat normally again
best of luck

Hi Mel
I joined WWs online on 31st March 05 and lost 6.5st.

Lots of exercise helps - my dogs have enjoyed all the extra walking!
Good luck!
Well done all of you for losing so much weight :)
I did weight watchers a few years ago and lost over 3 1/2 stone in about 10 months.... i left because i hit a brick wall and just couldn't get any more weight off (i was a small size 14 at that point) one thing after another ive gained some of the weight back so im back on the weight watchers diet again, but this time im doing it myself - im not going to the meetings, i already know what there is to know about the WW way so ive got my shopping book, all of my meeting books and have just embarked on week 2..
ive lost about 3lb in the last week :)
Good luck with it - its quite easy to do if you can be strict with yourself. As for being patient, once you see the weight coming off each week you will be spurred on to continue, you should be able to drop a dress size in a couple of months - short goals work much better than the target goal so just aim for your first 7lb sticker and then your 10% etc :)
Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I am really going to try my best. Everyone is so nice on this board.
We have spent most of the day in Ikea buying pictures and I had to watch my family have Hot Dogs and Chips (yummy) whilst I had a Low Cal Tuna and Sweetcorn Sandwich. As a reward I am now going to have a capuccino and two WW toffee biscuits.

Hey way to go for losing all that weight Girl!!! GO GIRL!!! I need to join WW too...I have about 5 stones to lose:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: Troube is I can't exercise due to my Arthritis...I just had both Hips replaced(one in July one in Dec) do you reckon it will work even without exercise???

It will work without excercising, but even with replaced hips and arthtritis you will be moving easier with the weight loss if you do it!
I did it and by following the point system you are allowed Anything you want just not much of the fatty high point stuff.
I think people who like a fair bit of alchohol find it fifficult as it is counted in the points system.
I am a relapsed gold member of weight watchers and when I get cross enough with myself I will go back, I wish you good luck and would sincerely recomend you try.

Well I know I will move easier...the Arthiris isn't limited to me 'Ips though!!! I've had 2 major lots of Major surgery to my Back...I have spinal rods with a fusion in 2000, so I have problems moving around anyway...even with a good pair of 'Ips!!! LOL Ohh I pray fr a new Body, pref one thats 36, 26, 38 LOL I don't think God is listening though...he keeps sayong...you got 2 new Hips woman....wot's up with ya!! LOL

You poor soul, then you have no doubt had all the advice and all that goes with it. Are you on medication for it too? Surgery is miserable and I reckon makes for a few pounds in weight loss any how, ( having had 3 lots with G.As in as many years). But if you do want to lose some I'd still say go with W.W.
Kind regards

Well, not that I want to turn this into a 'Poor Dawn' rant...but...I've had Arthiritis since my late 20's...I'm now 46...I was ok Nursing(in A&E) until I was assaulted by a psychotic patient in '96. He managed to prolapse 2 discs in my back, but as they were hard and calcified, it caused a lot of nerve damage. I had to give up Nursing and did very little in the way of moving, as I couldn't!(move that is!) That's when I started to put on weight...I used to work full time and more...and managed to play squash at quite a high level too...I used to coach squash too...obviously I take medication for the Arthritis, and other things now, but I had to have a GA as they couldn't do a Spinal due to the fusion...with my high BP and weight they didn't want to...but as my hips were totally knackered they HAD to, if you see what I mean?? I also need my Right Knee doing, but am going to try to wait as long as I can, maybe till the end of this year, or next...but as you see, it aint easy to lose weight by execise and anything you eat doesn't get used up! I'm going to try Hydrotherapy when I'm a bit more over my Op...see if that helps...but any suggestions will be gratefully recieved!
Dawn............You won't lose weight if you don't limit your calorie intake as you cannot burn off any calories by exercising! Maybe your weight loss will be slow, but the alternative is that you will keep on gaining weight! Good Luck!

Yep I know!!!! What I'm saying is that I need to survive on lettuce leaves to lose anything!! LOL

If there is a W.W nearby you would get so much support and understanding of your problems if they are only half as good as the one I went to.
They really worked with positives and could help you overcome obstacles, listen to me! I should be back there...and being paid by them.
Dawn, I think you would be surprised at how much you would lose at WW's by eating the correct food!!

I joined in Feb last year to lose weight for my holiday in August and I lost 48lbs!!! I did full choice and stuck to my points firmly. One of my fav meals was mushrooms stuffed with salsa and extra low fat philli with tons of salad......added up to 2 pts for the meal! Also, skinny cow ice cream lollies were my saviour - 1pt for a choccie ice cream lolly!! Good luck, stick to it and join the WW NCU boards, they're a great help.

Dawn, I also have disabilities restricting my movement. I lost 48lbs with WW and couldn't exercise.......if I can do it anyone can!!! Give it a go, I bet you'll amaze yourself.
Hayley x

WOW well done!!! I will give it a try...just that most people say you have to exercise to lose weight and it's very difficult when you're sat on your FAT A**E like me, feeling sorry for yourself!!! I wish I could do more...but maybe I should get off my FAT A**E and go anyway!!! LOL I need the motivation of going somewhere...I think I just feel worse at the moment as I've hardly done anything or been anywhere since having my Hip done...you just feel like a fat lazy slug huh?? However, onward and upward Batman!!! I'll give it a go...feel encouraged with what everyone says...so cheers, only 5 stone to go!!! (I'm also Diabetic...does that matter???)

When you join WW's, you have to sign accepting responsibility for your own health. If you are a diabetic, you will probably benefit from losing weight, the WW's programme is a healthy eating plan and diabetics are encouraged to follow a healthy eating plan. The thing to remember is that if you have a weight problem, you have it for life, so it doesn't really matter how much weight you have to lose..........you still have to do it forever if you want to stay slim!

Yes I know....I know a lot of things!!! But sometimes knowing them and putting them into practice are 2 entirely different things!! I am the worse sorta know it all...I used to Nurse...but it doesn't motivate you!!! I know for instance that my Arthirtis can be helped by losing weight, also my Blood Pressure...also my Diabeties...also my stunning good looks!!! LOL AS IF!!! Are WW paying you Oldilocks??? LOL :D :D :D

:) :) No, but I have recently rejoined so I am all 'fired up'!!! :) I have to lose some weight, nothing is as good as feeling good about yourself and at my age, I need all the help I can get (to feel good about myself that is :) )...........as I sit here with my stomach resting on my knees!!

I would recommend that after you are weighed, don't go away, stay for the rest of the meeting thats the time you learn how to work your diet and if anyone has any problems i.e. sticking and not losing anything, thats when its discussed, and you make some lovely new friends as well. You also find you that you are not the only one having problems trying to stick to the diet and you get loads of advice and new recipies to try out that other ww are using. After a few weeks you will find out that you are all asking each other "how did you do this week". Keep it up, i'm doing it myself until I lose some weight then I will go back, dont want to pay again as I did get to goal weight.
How are all you Weight Watchers doing? I have lost five and a half pounds in two weeks!!...yipee! Still a long way to go though!! :)
I lost 5lbs first week and get weighed again on Thursday. Don't think I will have done very well this week though
Keep your fingers crossed

I am doing the "no count" weightwatchers but am doing it myself without going to the meetings. I have lost 2lb this week which I had hoped would be more but its a start :)
Haven't tried the no count ww yet as this is only my second week. The Full choice one is absolutely great though

I lost two stone with full choice a few years ago, put it all back on when I quit smoking :( I have tried full choice again but have had no success, I seem to run out of points really quickly, ive found the no count to be much healthier too because you cant really eat any processed foods or chocolate, crisps etc. I find myself living on rivita, cream cheese and raw salad veggies for lunch then some form of veggie chilli, curry, spag bowl, with rice/pasta for tea. I have replaced chocolate with yogurts and munch on fruit or raw carrots when im hungry :)
I am doing the 'No Count' diet, it does encourage healthy eating. You can alternate the 'Full Choice' and 'No Count' diets weekly if you feel like a change!
Ive lost 6.5lb so far (2.5lb in week 1 and then 4lb last week)
My next weigh-in is on Saturday so hoping for another good result :)
