The Elm Park DTC train at Harold Hill nr Romford.  It has a good reputation.

All details can be found here http://www.elmparkdogclub.btinternet.co.uk/

Hi Sandrah
I went to Elm Park training club on a Monday eve but the bloke up there said they wouldn't be able to train my dog because he won't take treats.
Thanks though:cool:

Not sure I like the idea of any training club that never uses treats.

Surely you should use what the dog finds most rewarding.  For most dogs this is treats....

We manage just fine without treats :) Of course most dogs would prefer treats - but they can manage without :) We use a toy/play as reward :)

Ms Daisy - Have a look here for a list of positive reinforcement trainers: www.apdt.co.uk

If your dog honestly isn't interested in food (any food, no matter how high value) and you have tried all the obvious things like not feeding him before a class and making the food reward ULTRA delicious, then you're going to have to get him hooked on toys and use those as a reward.

I went on an obedience training weekend last week.  On the Saturday a lady brought in an Akita, she showed hardly any interest in her or the food.
The trainer said don't feed her tonight or tomorrow morning, bring her food with you and use it as treats in training on the Sunday.

Wow, she came in with a different dog, she came alive and worked it socks off for the food.

Just a thought

Hi sandrah
I tried  staving him before Ringcraft training because he wouldn't bait. Whilst he was indoors he was scavenging for the liver cake I had but as soon as we reached training that was it ..wouldn't touch it. I ended up feeding all the other dogs who were more than willing to help get rid of it!!
Thanks:cool:

Hi onetwothree
I will take a look at the website you gave.
Once my dog is outside the front door he is not interested in food whatsoever. We have tried everything.
At our Christmas party (Ringcraft) everyone was so shocked on how he wouldn't touch any of the food that was being offered to him..People were going up to the table bringing alsorts and everytime he just turned his nose up.
Thanks:cool:

It might be that he's a bit stressed by everything if he normally would eat. It happens quite often - sometimes a dog will not show interest for a few lessons, then suddenly is more keen :)
- By MsDaisy [gb] Date 11.01.06 23:52 UTC
Hi Lindsay
I have been going to Ringcraft for about 6 months and it is only in the last 2 classes I decided to work with him with no bait. He used to sit and watch a few of the other dogs eating the bait I'd brought and we all thought YES this will make him eat...no such luck all he wanted was the plastic container the bait had been in:confused: I can't work him out at all because all my other dogs would eat whatever you put in front of them.
Thanks
