Our pups finally flew the nest on saturday (with the exception of the little girl we're keeping).  However, we got a phone call yesterday from a couple who had one of the girls to say that their other dogs weren't accepting her and that she was too lively and it was possible that they would be bringing her back.    I am really annoyed and can not quite believe that they've phoned us up after just one day and would love to go straight down to collect her and find her a home where she will be properly loved and wanted.   They are going to let us know tomorrow if they're to keep her or not.    What would you do?

Hi Sarah,

The short answer is that personally I'd have been there to collect her already.

Good luck, Teri

I don't breed puppies but if I were you I would  .......

go straight down to collect her and find her a home where she will be properly loved and wanted ;)

I'd ring them now to say that I really, really wanted the pup back and that I was leaving to collect it as soon as I put the phone down.

I second what everyone else has said - I'd phone them now and ask for her back and go staright away to collect her.

Hi Sarah
I'd go and get her now if I were you - these people do not deserve a puppy!

I agree with everyone go at once and get her bless her heart.
- By STARRYEYES Date 09.01.06 17:48 UTC
I agree with everyone else ...I would ring them and tell them I was on my way.

You will be worried sick that the pup is being treated properly how can they be in doubt so soon ...pathetic

go get her and find her a loving caring forever home.

keep us all updated...

me too, they clearly dont really want her:mad:
- By Lyssa [gb] Date 09.01.06 18:25 UTC
Yes, in agreement too, but tomorrow isn't too long to wait!  They will most probably say they have decided against having her then anyway, they would not have called you to begin with if they did not have very serious doubts and had realised their mistake. (A poo on the floor tonight will probably push them over the edge) So let them bring her back and waste their time and petrol. You can't just turn up and demand the pup back, she is no longer your property. If they should say that they are wanting to give it some more time, just tell them that in your experience if someone has doubts from the outset it usually always ends the same way, and ask them to bring the pup back to save her the stress and unsettlement of home changes. They obviously have not thought things through properly, and are expecting far too much to soon, people like this make me so mad. Don't let them dither on the phone, be assertive and just say "That's fine return her." And then breathe a sigh of relief when you get her back.

I agree you can't turn up on the doorstep and demand her back - BUT... if it were my pup I would call them NOW, say I would love to take the puppy back, be nice on the phone, offer them their full money back... the important thing is to get the pup back.
- By Phoebe [gb] Date 09.01.06 19:19 UTC
I agree. Give them a phone call on the pretence of seeing how everything is with them and the pup now. Even though your blood is boiling, I'd act all caring and sympathetic towards them so you're on good terms with them. You don't have to mean it, but it always good to be diplomatic so they don't decide to shove her in the loot because you've been short with them on the phone.

Get the pup back then go in the bathroom and scream till your heart's content. :D

I agree, phone, say if there not getting on now, possibilty they never will. And then tell them it would be lot kinder to find puppy new home now where puppy will be happy for life, and refund there money. They should never of had pup in first place. warm regards good luck debbie.

I agree to it sounds like they really haven't thought about the responsibilities a puppy brings, poor thing wouldn't even have settled in:mad: good luck keep us posted:cool:

Warm regards Susan

They probably didn't think enough about their older dogs accepting a new puppy, but it doesn't sound like they're willing to make the effort required. When we brought our new puppy home, one of our boys in particular was absolutely disgusted with her and ignored her and us totally for the first evening, even running away from her when she tried to play. They're perfectly good friends now though. :-)

update on harriet.  She was brought back to us this morning and happily playing in the garden with her litter sister and mother, fortunately none the worse for her travels.   Another reason they seemed to have for bringing her back was that she "wees a lot - and on the carpet"!   How dare an 8 week old puppy wee so much.   What can I say?
- By Lea Date 11.01.06 12:01 UTC
Thats great news that they have brought her back and she is well :D :D :D :D
Now you really must remember next time to house train them by the age of 3 weeks and make sure they wipe there feet by the age of 4 weeks to stop them messing up the new owners house. I dont know I cant believe you let an 8 week old pup go without being 100% clean tsk tsk tsk ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Just hope she chewed something valuable before they brought her back ;) Make them think before considering getting another one!!!!!
Really Pleased you have got her back quickly now you can find her a home she deserves :)
Lea :)

Do people not know what puppies are like:eek:

My husband was suprised I sold any puppies after giving new owners my - - you do know this pup will pee & poo all over, chew up everything, nip you & the kids ect talk - lol

Allthough saying that you do tend to forget how much hard work they are.

I am glad you have the pup back:cool:

Hi Sarah,

Just saw your post. I'm so pleased you got the puppy back, it so difficult sometimes I bet you wanted to shake the people who bought her.

Atleast they told you and didn't sell her on as some people do, they amount of puppies and young Beagles I have seen advertised by people on Epupz that need to rehome them for various reason and they are asking full price ( for a dog with problems that they created ). Really makes me sad, one chap recently advertised had a Beagle puppy advertised that they had a couple of months ( from a very good Beagle breeder ) they discovered they couldn't cope with him as they were at work all day! Anyway I emailed him and suggested that he let the breeder know you need to rehome him as they would like to know what happens to there puppies. Anyway he replied and said that he had rehomed the dog with a very nice couple that we at home during the day.

I didn't know if I should tell the breeder as I know of them but don't them as such.

Main thing is you got her back and you will be able to find her a loving new home!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 11.01.06 12:49 UTC
I certainly would let the breeder know that the pup is not with the original owner.
- By bertbeagle [gb] Date 11.01.06 13:11 UTC
You are right, if I breed I know I would want to know what happens to my puppies, even though your sell them to the new owner at the end of the day you bought them into the world ( so to speak ) and have a responsiblity to them. Well that's how I see it.

I have just found the breeders website so I'm going to email her with all of the original owners details, that way she can call him and find out where the puppy has ended up.

Makes you wonder how they managed to house train their other dogs.

Too lively and wees a lot.  Well there's surprising!

What were they expecting I wonder.
