Has your friend got any paperwork at all from the breeder? What about a receipt?

Without anything in writing he doesn't stand a chance, I'm afraid. :( If he wants to show he'll have to get another dog, and make sure he gets the registration document at the time. Sorry. :(

It's not just the pedigree he needs, it's the registration documents, which will have been issued by the KC to the breeder when the litter was registered, and which only the breeder can provide.

Can he go back to the breeder's premises and ask what's happened about the papers? The KC will be unlikely to pass on the breeder's current address (if they even know it) because of the Data Protection Act.

If he got the breeder's telephone number from BT then why can't he get the address as well?  BT have an online Directory Enquiry service on their website, see http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publisha.content/en/find/residential/residential_numbers.publisha

hi thanks everyone for your advice,
he got the number from a list of calls he made the month he bought him, he had to get from BT as he doesn`t have the guy`s details and it was a mobile number.

To be honest the chances are the dog was never registered.

I would contact the breed club and ask the secretary if they can look up the litters regitered for that period (most secs get the BRS) and also if they know the name of the breeder.
