When I hand reared a litter Christmas 2004, I used a prem baby bottle from Boots, I did buy a puppy bottle from the vet, but they just didn't get on with it.

i assume from the name you have a toy breed ckcs, i just bred from my girl this time and all is well, but if you are purchasing bottles just in case, please be aware that cav pups are quite small and i would be wary of purchasing prem teats as  these may be too big, i bought a small catac feeder  on line just search in google for CATAC FEEDER and plenty of places stock it, it cost about £8.00 never needed to use it thank god but the nipples/ teats seem about the same size as my girls nipples so just consider this when purchasing anything else:cool:

Be very careful when choosing a bottle to feed puppies with.
I have handreared a few puppies now and when recently faced with rearing a litter of 9, 6 day old goldens.
I purchased a royal canine kit and had to use the biggest teat, all of the teats had a slit in them rather than a small hole and when feeding the puppies I nearly chocked them to death because the flow of milk was WAY too fast, I was DISGUSTED.
At 1am in the morning I had to resort to syringe feeding them until I was able to go out and buy a different bottle.
I used a widenecked bottle with a newborn teat, still a little too fast but I couldnt find a prem bottle and teat.

Please be very careful when bottle feeding puppies as if they inhale the milk it can result in pneumonia. If you should have to hand rear, providing you are shown by a vet, I think tube feeding is a better method as no milk can be inhaled. Whilst tubing let the pup suckle on your finger so you are always aware the sucking reflex has not gone which can be a sign of problems.
