Following my previous post re changing to JWB or nutro I visited the local animal shelter who are noe stocking 15kg bags so will keep the girls on this. Which does everyone use. We currently have the chicken and rice classic but I've noticed it has only chicken meal and no fresh chicken as such. We bought a 2kg bag of the salmon thinking that might be better and it does conatin some 'fresh salmon' along with chicken  and fish meals. I daren't ask what goes into these meals as i probably won't like the answer.  Just some opinions on which one to go for please.  thanks guys

Hi Mollymoto,

Probably best to satisfy yourself with comparing the various recipes in the range - details are on their website at http://www.ardengrange.com/

Personally I don't like a mixture of different meat based proteins in a food, i.e. if I buy a salmon or lamb diet with say rice/potato recipe, I wouldn't expect it to contain chicken fat.  If I wanted chicken, I'd be buying a chicken variety which didn't contain meat, meal or fat from another species :)

Regards, Teri

Yes this was what was bothering me. It does contain chicken fat and I can't see why! Maybe I'm missing the point and being as blonde as my hair! LOL:rolleyes:
Even the lamb contains chicken fat. Back to the dog food dilema board I think!!!

Our dogs are still on the Graduate but we will move over to the Adult (not Classic) food within the next few months.  The AG Adult has fresh chicken and similar ingredients to the Graduate and Puppy that have suited our dogs since they were weaned.

I was curious and checked the Nutro site and the JWB site to see if they mixed different meat based products in their foods...Nutro have chicken fat in their lamb and rice but JWB use fish oil in their fish product and lamb fat in the lamb product.  I wonder if poultry fat is a cheaper ingredient than lamb fat or fish oil...

I just use Prestige.  The classic range and the Salmon and rice contain more carbohydrate (so I am told) so may suit some dogs better than the prestige which is higher in protein.
