:eek:I also have the Bissell Proheat - £289 in the Argos catalogue, but if you know anyone who is old enough to have the Saga magazine, ask them if they are still selling reconditioned ones, with 12 month's guarantee, for £100!

for something a bit cheaper I've got the vax upright does the job for me ...not as good as a professional cleaner..granted but if you clean the area right away its brill.

I've got the Vax upright as well and find its good, very easy to use as well, amazing how much dirt is in the carpets even with regular use.

just bought myself a vax hand held carpet cleaner from argos £50, its for little stains. THought it'd be good for my puppy paw prints.  Trouble is, with this weather every time they go pee their paws are filthy!  I wipe them when she comes in but you cant get it all.  Cant wait for summer.......may end up with laminate throughout:mad:

I have just bought a VAX XL Rapide.  Costs about £200 from the catalogue although I've seen it on QVC for £179.  Works brilliantly but beware, it is extremely heavy to use - if you find a Dyson hard going this is harder.  Also you need to be careful not to put too hot water in the tank as it distorts the valve and makes the tank leak   Gets your carpets clean though.

The Bissell Proheat heats the water to the right temperature so you don't have to worry.  And it cleans the dirtiest carpets quickly and easily.  They end up barely damp (very important as my previous shampooer left carpets very wet!) and ready to walk on in about an hour.

i have a VAX Rapide XL upright, and its fabulous! I love the fact it has seperate clean water and dirty water tanks, and the cleaning solution smells yummy! My neighbour, sister, and friends have all borrowed it, and they love it just as much as me! The only downside i think is that its quite heavy, although not as heavy as my neighbours Bissell....that leaks....after only 11mths of having it......

I got fed up hiring the big machines, so for £89.00, I bought on a whim mind you, a Bissell quickwash from Argos and it's GREAT. It has a tank on the back for clean water that just drops in, EASY. A tank for the dirty at the brush end, that just clicks in also EASY.
For a carpet clean or a quick clean up of a patch it's a 2 min job! A lovely light easy to use upright that I wish I had years ago. I have had the vaxs' etc in the past and I would never of believed I would use this one so much, but it's so easy.
