I dont know if anyone has had this before.
I have a bitch that came into season. At day 9 my stud dog went crazy so we kept him away from her.  She went out of season and he stopped going after her. But just two days after she stopped, she started to bleed again and 3 days after that he went mental yet again. So we had to keep him away from her.  She has now finished again. But what I wanted to know is this. Has anyone ever had a bitch that has ovulated twice one after the other ?
It seems most strange to me.  I have to see my vet this week so will ask him, but sometimes breeders know more about breeding issues that vets have experience of.

I should add I am experienced at breeding, and this is a young bitch, and this is her 2nd season.  We do not intend on mating her.

Yes, a few years ago my oldest girl had a season like this. It seemed normal at first but the experiened stud boy went crazy and stopped eating earlier than I would have expected. Then the season appeared to end very early and the even the sex mad, sex starved (he can never be used at stud) IW boy totally lost interest. About a week after she had apparently finished she began to bleed again. This time it seemed like a normal season and the experienced boy went off his food over the days I'd have expected. She finished the 'second' season normally. Since then she has come into season normally, when I'd expect and as I'd expect.

I've only experienced the one normal season from my own bitch so far, but from the Book of the Bitch it sounds a bit like a 'split season'. But if you're experienced you'll probably have that book or similar ones anyway. :-)

Hi thanks, thats interesting. I have seen Silent seasons, but never one thats come in straight after the other. I feel that I have walked dogs seperately now for so long. As we keep the male away from the female for as long as possible. With my girls they usually have a season and he is after them for about 7 days. Sometimes longer, but nothing like this one.
