Hi,
I know there have been quite a few posts ref Dysons etc, and believe me I've read them all!!
However some of them are somewhat dated so am after an updated opinion.
I'm in desperate need of a new hoover and have managed to make the decission that despite hating my current Dyson (DC11 Cylinder) I am definatley going to get another Dyson, this time an upright (which I believe are better for dog hair, and are less cumbersome than my cylinder)
Anyway, my question is: DC07 Animal or DC14 Animal, apart from the price, what's the difference between the two, which would you recomend?
Look forward to hearing your toughts.
Kind regards
Sarah

I've got the Dyson Allergy model to pick up dog hair. I did look at the Animal but the sales person at the time told me it was exactly the same as the Allergy except it didn't have the mini turbo head attachment for doing stairs, sofas etc. The Allergy was also alot cheaper so I went for the Allergy and I must say that it is excellent at picking up dog hair!
I have since bought the mini turbo head attachment off Ebay for £9.00 (normaly £25 in the shops) but I am not that impressed with it. You can just use the attachments that are already with the Allergy to do the stairs, sofa etc.

I've no idea which is better (sorry, not a Dyson fan and never will be !). However, I'm pretty sure that at the moment John Lewis are giving a 5 year guarantee. Shop around for prices - if you buy from the high street John Lewis will match the price if you find it cheaper. I think Comet etc usually charge extra for the longer guarantee.

i had a dyson dco7 and had nothing but problems it used to cut out all the time so phoned them up they said it needed a new filter (had only had it 6 months )they also said i used it to much (once a day like everyone else)and my house must be very dirty ( cheek of the man) in the end i threw it away(300 pound wasted). i now have a henry hoover it is brillent copes with all the dog hair( have 3 gsd)
Yup i have just bought another henry ( on offer for £68) and it is far better than the other dyson i had, you can also get a pet hair catcher attachment but the suction i find is more than enough - you can feel it lifting the carpets - plus its little and small and the bags are really cheap and it has a smile!

I have recently treated myself to the Dyson DC14 animal - and it is fab :D it picks up all the hair, even at the edges of the room ive had no problems at all with it, I must admit though im not overly keen on the turbo head thing that comes with it, I find the "on board tools" easier to use :)

We have a DC07 Animal Telescope, and my OH is practically in love with the thing, he goes all gooey over it! :-D
We had a DC04 for about 2 years and had no end of problems. Over Xmas I decided that enough was enough and bought a new one. Im not especially a fan of Dyson but.... they were on offer!!
I dont normally buy into all that rubbish but I borrowed a neighbours Animal one (dunno what is was but its the purple one) and thought it was fantastic. Then I saw that Currys had a sale on and were doing the DC14 Blitz it for £200 instead of £300. Its wonderful. Just as good if not better than the Animal. Great for allergy sufferers and they have redesigned slightly so its easier for us shorties to carry. It really is brill.

I was talking to a Dyson engineer recently and he told me that one of them [either07 or 14] has a bigger motor so it might be worth checking the spec. I have a DC14 and I wouldn't swap it for anything. My DC01 lasted 12 years until I upgraded late last year.

I have been asking about vacuum cleaners on here recently. I was not keen on a dyson after my last one was so crap.
I have now bought a new one and went for the Miele Cat and Dog. It is fantastic and doesn't leave a thing behind and gets right up to the edges without using the tools.
Bought mine in the sales, its the new one out and was a lot cheaper than the dysons.

Bev, same here (not Cat & Dog though). We bought a 'normal' Miele and bought the Turbo brush thingy after.......no dog at the time !.
Miele always do incredibly well in every report - and I've no complaints so far.

Same here jackyjat ;)
I had the DC01 for about 12 yrs, it's still going strong at my dads house. But I now have the upright DC14 Animal, can't say I have all positive things to say about it  but the motor in the 14 is more powerful than the 07, which is why I paid a bit more for it when it came out 14 months ago.

I have a dyson DC14 Animal cleaner, best thing I ever bought. No idea the difference but I know the DC14 is great if you have laminate flooring !!

All I will say about the DC14 is don't buy it if you have very long haired dogs
You'll spend more time taking the brushbar apart to unwind the metres of long hair that gets stuck round it than you do actually using the thing. Apart from that it's very efficient and I'm building my arm and back muscles up nicely lugging the dam thing around :D
Did speak to Dyson about the brushbar tangling and all they say is that it's obviously efficient and doing the job it's designed to do. ie, pick up hair. I wouldn't mind this, but I'm lucky if I get
1 room finished before I have to do surgery on it.
>don't buy it if you have very long haired dogs
Or long-haired family members! It's my son's long hair that gets tangled round the brush! :D

Hopefully the hairs aren't still attached

you must be houseproud :D
I suspect that the dogs aren't the
only culprits in my house JG :D :D

I've never been accused of being houseproud before!

:D :D :D
(His hair is
very long - it was last cut 4½ years ago!)

Major surgery about to take place!!
